@jimmy-v this is a football website forum so talking transfer portal and recruiting is what we do here 😂

Don’t try to talk sense to the moron. It thinks it’s on a political website.

Do you and Roam need anything? Do you want me to bake a cake for the both of you? Not a good day for the Trumpers today in Davos. He now claims he won't use military forces or tarrifs to take Greenland.  What a buffoon. I would be embarrassed.

Yeah,  release the pedo files. So we can all see how vast the traffic ring really was. Wouldn't surprise me if it had links and relations to 2011.

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The Michigan Department of Transportation is exploring alternatives to the gas tax as more drivers switch to electric and hybrid vehicles, reducing the state’s fuel tax revenue.

On Tuesday, MDOT officials and the state’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) held their first meeting to discuss a Road Usage Charge (RUC) study and pilot program.

A Road Usage Charge would charge drivers based on the miles they drive, rather than on how much fuel their vehicle consumes.

Drivers in Michigan used to pay about 48 cents per gallon in state taxes, including a 30-cent gas tax and a 6 percent sales tax. As of Jan. 1st, the state adjusted the fuel tax to $.524 per gallon for gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel. Electric vehicle owners do not pay the gas tax; instead, their registration fee is tied to it.

I’ve told folk the last few years ain’t none of ‘em going to let you drive on the roads for free. This is about common sense because all states have to have money to keep the roads up and I get it but over the last 4 or 5 years all I’ve been hearing is buy electric that way you don’t have to buy gas and it will be cheaper 😂 ain’t nobody going to drive for free and nobody should get to drive for free fix everything where everyone pays around the same. Rich folk will love to charge by the miles because they can afford to live closer to work and they don’t drive as many miles as the regular blue collar workers do. If you have a gas car you pay gas taxes and if you drive electric then you pay a fee but charging folks by the mile will hurt the middle class and the poor people. The last 4 years the blue collar people were helping pay for electric cars for people that can afford’em I’m still confused on that shit 😂

on the taxes on gas doesn’t it stay the same regardless of how much gas goes up or comes down? I thought I heard if gas goes up a certain amount then states can raise the taxes is that true? Please no political crap because I’m not being political here because states have to have money to keep the roads up and I back all states for that as long as they ain’t ripping folks off rich or middle class. I get it might cost more to do road work in some states due to weather conditions so if it cost more in taxes that’s just the way it is.

In NY the gas tax is a percentage, price goes up, state gets more, price goes down, they get less. Every now and then, when gas prices were crazy high, they'd (state) would lower their %, they'd still take their share...and then some, but go on record as giving us poor folk some tax relief.

@been-there-ii if I remember correctly Georgia taxes on gas automatically went up if gas went up a certain percentage amount. Maybe 81 knows what I’m talking about if he see this.

You realize that the gas tax charges people by the mile already, right? Travel further, use more gas, pay more.

No, states don't raise or lower the tax based on the price of gas. Most gas taxes are a set price per gallon.

^^After writing I though I may be wrong, so I looked it up. Yes, apparently some 20 states use a variable gas tax rate that does adjust based on various metrics.

Some states have apply a sales tax so the tax goes up when prices go up. Others tie it to the state’s CPI, and others calculate it annually based on construction costs.

It seems NC adjusts theirs based partially on populations. So lots of different ways it goes up and down apparently

@roaminglion that’s true I didn’t think about that lol man I could’ve sworn our gas taxes went up on taxes because gas went up a huge amount at one time but I may have misunderstood what was said I have been known to do that. Thanks Roam
