It wasnt until soon after the battle was over that we had started to hear about him and the whole story didnt come out until i came home. Didnt know him but we certainly chewed some of the same dirt. He was in the 1/1, i was in the 2/5.
Once a month me and some vets get together in Augusta for breakfast and it was there that i learned that he was FINALLY getting the recognition he deserved. I see you original post was reported as "inappropriate"......wow.......im guessing someone is very proud of themselves this morning. Only in America can someone view a post about a hero earning the Medal of Honor as inappropriate. I dont care what venue it is or what peoples' opinions are; Im glad you reached out and asked.
I dunno T, I think getting shot at is more in line w/ the Great Outdoors than Football. It is interesting that it got flagged for, what one post? Much unlike the "go fast, turn left" posts on the Football page. (just kidding SPF....as well as pointing out the irony)
Maybe the Forum needs an "Other Stuff" category? Most of the users here would still read it and the purists could relax.
Thats not a bad idea. But im guessing there are still some on here that would gripe about that too. What's amazing to me is that the post was addressed to me yet there were others that took the time to read it and respond negatively about it.
The funny thing is, we can talk about fishing on the football forum and going to Burlington to attend a sausage festival and nobody thinks twice about it.....lol
haha That's because the running skirmish was a tradition on PennLive and it carried over to here. Unlike a trying to get some information post.
