We can't mess around, we need to sweep both Wisconsin & Notre Dame to have a chance in the Pairwise standings. Anything less and we will have to win the Big Ten Tournament to get into the NCAA Championship.
Agreed, splitting with Michigan State was not good. With Wisconsin splitting with Notre Dame and Minnesota sweeping Ohio State last weekend, things continue to get interesting. Sweeping the final four games would guarantee first round home ice in the B1G Tournament. We would also probably have to win at least the first round of the B1G Tournament and maybe more. As you said, the only other way is to win the B1G Tournament (4 games in three weekends), not an easy task.
On another note, Illinois may finally be joining Division I hockey.
Well, so much for getting an at-large NCAA bid. Home ice in the B1G tournament is also more difficult now. Going to need a sweep at Notre Dame, or a split with Notre Dame and a Wisconsin sweep of Michigan for home ice.

Yup, the team has been Jekyll and Hyde all year. Win one convincingly, drop the next in opposite fashion.
They actually have to sweep ND, because ND finishes ahead of us if we split. Basically we need Michigan to split and we need to win both.
Teams 2-4 in standings get home ice in the first round. Team 2 gets second round home ice. Current standings according to USCHO.com:
OSU 43 pts
Mn 36
Mich 34
ND 34
PSU 32
Wisco 28
Mich St 27
Yeah, if we sweep and Mich splits then we move into second place (home ice in the first two rounds). However, if we sweep and Mich sweeps, we still move ahead of ND and Mn and get home ice in the first round. If PSU splits with ND and Wisco sweeps Mich then:
1) OSU locked 1st place already
2) ND 37
3) Mn 36
4) PSU 35
5) Wisco 34
6) Mich 34
7) Mich St already eliminated from home ice
I don't even want to think about ties and extra points.
Ignore the above post, I found my error. I forgot to give Mich 3 points in a split, which would put them above us and knock us out of home ice. However, if we sweep and Mich sweeps, we still move ahead of Minn and ND into 3rd place.
4-1, PSU over ND
FINAL 5-4 ND..
WHAT THO THE ODDS BE GREAT OR SMALL
OLD NOTRE DAME WILL WIN OVERALL..
FINAL 3-2 PSU
... apparently old Notre Dame can't win them all!
Missed a great opportunity, collapsed in the first game. Oh well, either way we had to win the conference tournament to advance after splitting with Wisconsin.
The season of splits... Good enough to beat anyone, bad enough to lose to them too
Im far from a hockey buff, but saw at least half of both games, including most of the 3rd periods, and the OT......and thought it was excellent hockey by both teams...entertaining..

Interestingly enough we've moved into the 16th spot in the Pairwise. I didn't expect to move up with a split, but we are now 16th... If we get past the first round it's likely we make the tourney, but a win in the semis would guarantee it. Surprising.
Yeah, probably have to sweep the first round and win the semis, but you never know. All the parity in the conference makes things interesting.
