The roster upgrade is continuing. Look for more talented, younger players coming to Hockey Valley without going to juniors. On the back end, it will probably mean that more will be leaving early with eligibility remaining.

2018 recruiting class announced. Here are my few observations.

Two are transfers from Merrimack (Hockey East): Evan Bell (defenseman) and  Ludvig Larsson (forward). Bell played five games last fall before leaving Merrimack, so he will have to sit out the fall semester and only has 2.5 years of eligibility remaining. Larsson is a graduate transfer. So, he only has one year of eligibility remaining. Max Sauve (forward) was verbally committed to Vermont (also Hockey East) for the past three years, but decided to sign with PSU last fall. It's not like they are taking players away from BC or BU, but attracting recruits from other D-1 teams is significant.

Erik Autio's brother Oskar (goalie) is from Espoo, Finland. Aarne Talvitie (center) is also from Espoo, Finland. Larsson is from Sweden. Lose one Fin to graduation (Erik) and sign two Fins and a Swede. The European presence on the team is increasing.

Talvitie was drafted in the sixth round by the New Jersey Devils in 2017. This is one more player on the team with NHL potential.

Paul DeNaples (defenseman) is from Moscow, PA. He has been verbally committed to PSU since 2016. PSU is still getting a few players from various parts of Pennsylvania.

No Canadians in this small recruiting class.
