I was at the game on Saturday.  If anyone else (here) was too, feel free to correct me or call me crazy!! I don't know what all THAT "Oossie Woosie piggy hog" chant was about, but Arkansas fans were WAY MORE into that game than the PSU fans and the same goes with the players and coaches....IMO!

1) I have had enough of JF with his arms crossed, with a clipboard facing the wrong way while standing 10 feet away from team huddles during TO's! He is nothing more than a prop on the sidelines!!

2) Clifford is coming back for one reason....IMO.  This will be his the last chance to play organized football.  HE AINT GOING TO THE PRO's at any meaningful level. Let him throw one pass to his brother and then show him how to download the Transfer Portal App!!

3) I understand the Defense was crippled on Saturday with the Opt outs, but NO WAY can I blame the Defense for that MESS of a game.  Four weeks to prepare and THEY KNEW what they had to work with......and this was the best the coaches could do?

The fans??  We just had enough! It was the same old same old AGAIN and it was really hard to get into THAT game when you already knew after 10 minutes what the outcome was going to be! Thank goodness they sold beer at the game ( $16.00 for a Bud Light )!! I would have paid $30 a beer to keep my sanity!!

I honestly feel the Big 10 was overrated this year. Penn State finished 7-6 for the year and Iowa, Michigan, Sparty and Ohio State ALL struggled to beat them! And the best team we can send to the playoffs should have NEVER left Happy Valley with a victory!!!

NOTHING CHANGES IF NOTHING CHANGES!!!!  And Nothing is Changing in State College, PA in 2022! Just like everyone else here, I am a true fan too!!! I will stand behind the players 11-0 or 0-11.  I feel bad for this team this year!  They were NOT a 7-6 team!! This was a wasted year for a very talented group of players!

GO STATE!!!

We had tickets but decided to opt out and I didn't even watch much of the game on TV but from what I did see it was the same old same old and highly predictable. As you've stated nothing's changed so expect more of the same in 2022.

Definitely a lackluster performance. Saw team enter the stadium from the busses. Players looked sloppy.

Were the Arkansas fans respectful fans or idiots? I kept hearing they wanted it more. Its deflating to be a Penn State fan these days. To Joe's point about being one of the leading schools with opt outs and transfers would be a pretty good indication of intermal rot. It might take years to recover and I am 70 years old, SERIOUSLY afraid I may never see Penn State contend for NC, maybe a Big Championship.

Did you guys have any trouble getting back home?

I asked how much it would cost to cut ties with James Franklin but I guess nobody knows. I was a huge James Franklin fan but he’s killing Penn St football from what I see today that’s why I want him gone. Y’all have heard me say it, I don’t put anybody above Penn St winning and the last 2 years have done ole southern in, it’s time for a change. Like I said, bite the bullet and pay him off before we get further behind. Whatever the magic was from 2014-2019 is gone and James Franklin needs to be gone, it ain’t working baby and we’ve become Miami!

@lakerie

I seriously thought I was at a Razorback RED OUT!!! Now, I sat behind the Penn State team, so I wasn't able to see what it looked like from looking across the field from the other side.  HOWEVER, they had this "chant" which they did most of the game! Kinda like the Florida State tomahawk thing....just not as obnoxious.  I don't recall hearing WE ARE....PENN STATE more than let's say two times?? Right before Kickoff and when we went ahead 10-7. Awfully quiet on the Penn State side for 90% of the game. The highlight of the game for me was seeing GODWINS picture on the entrance of the Stadium with Brady!! Really cool, felt like it was a Penn State home game!!

No trouble getting home. Getting there was a different story! 95 South was a mess!! It takes me 15 hours to get from York to Longboat Key which is 1hr 15 mins past Tampa.  It took me 22 hours!!! I think I averaged 30 mph through NC and SC!

Now, I did have a funny on the way down.  Got to Tampa, 75 minutes away from my condo and I was exhausted.  My wife drove at least 9 of the hours and she was exhausted too.  We pulled into a rest stop, 1:30AM and with at least 30 cars parked and everyone was sleeping for the most part.  Very quiet, street lights were dimmed in the parking lot and I found a spot between a Lexus and Range Rover....thought it would be safe to take a snooze for an hour or so and then finish the trip!! I just got a new Explorer and that dang touch screen map thing would NOT go off and I couldn't sleep!! I didn't know how to turn it off, so I started hitting buttons!! The next thing I know is I set the car alarm off and the rear tailgate started going up and down and I couldn't stop those either!!!! LOL Finally my wife said start the car and get out of here!!! Man, all I saw was about 10 cars of people sitting up and startled!! Guess they should have stayed at a Holiday Inn! LOL

GO STATE!!!

@been-there-ii  Let’s hope James Franklin gets back on track because if not somebody is going to have to come up with a boatload of money. I might be wrong and I hope I am but I’m just not feeling good where the team is. Gettin beat by Indiana, Illinois, Maryland, Kentucky, Arkansas and Nebraska tells you where the football team is.

As much as I hate to say it and I say it every year, let's wait and see how next year goes. With team losses to the NFL and likely the transfer portal, I don't see a great year but I'm ok with that, I just want improvement and upward trajection for next year. Please, no silly losses to the likes of Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers etc or badly coached, close games with C. Michigan and Ohio. I will wait to see how the incoming class holds together hopefully for a run at a Big10 championship in a few years.

PSU fans in general are complacent, I've stated that many times in here. Attend some games and you'll see and hear what i mean. There is no pressure on the University to be successful on the field like there is at OSU and Meatchicken. At PSU football games are mostly just social gatherings where old college friends get together and hang out and mediocrity on the field is acceptable.

@psujoe I'm not sure I'd use the Fighting Hairballs as a standard to attain, since they really haven't done all that well, except this past season. But hey, to each their own.

As for the old college friends, Saturday afternoon social gathering, that's who has the money. And as you know, money calls the shots.

I'm not saying Meatchicken has had success, I'm saying there is a lot of pressure on the university for the football team to be successful. At PSU that pressure does not exist. Also, I really don't know why we like to make fun of Hairbawl because he has proven to be better and more successful than the guy we have and with the way they are recruiting and the momentum he has built I expect them to dominate us for at least the next 5 years.

@psujoe  losing that game to Michigan this past year set us back for a few years. You see how losing to Ohio St them few years we should’ve won has set us back.

Those 2 OSU games were huge and the 2 biggest chokes by PSU that I can remember. Hard to recover from losses like those.

@psujoe  Alright, I can go w/ the pressure to win at Mich being greater than PSU. As for The Hairball, I'm not all that impressed and as you said, it's just fun.

At what point did you notice the fan apathy? After the Sandusky debacle I became a far more loyal and fervant fan as did many around me. My family and I traveled to Ireland as we thought it woud be the closest thing to a bowl for years to come. Life gets in the way and since then I might have been to 2 games but never felt my fire wasn't there. I don't feel like I'm complacent and I'm not saying you are wrong just haven't been to enough games to notice.

@lakerie You'd think if there was "internal rot", Franklin would have a tougher time recruiting. The kids we get, typically say they felt like family when they explain what they liked about PSU vs other schools. If there was something rotten in Denmark, wouldn't kids pick up on that pretty quickly or current team members tip them off? Have you seen or heard anything negative from the players that made it to the NFL?

I do agree, "we" don't seem to do as well as we should with the talent we have and yes, that's on the coaches. Is that a, pack your crap and get out, offense? Probably not.

I find it interesting that when Clifford comes off the field he just goes over and sits on the bench. Franklin nor any other coach comes over to discuss what he's doing right or wrong!

@been-there-ii I've not heard anything and I'm not close to anyone that has any inside information. Frankly I'm not sure what to think and shouldn't be confused with players opting out and entering the portal. Looking at this link there are far fewer players in the portal than (for example) Ohio State and LSU. The tracker does seem to be a bit dated though.

@lakerie  I hate losing and I’m never satisfied losing. I do understand losing some games to Michigan and Ohio St but we should also win out fair share against ‘em. Losing to Illinois, Maryland, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska and Arkansas is unacceptable and there is no excuse losing these games. I can understand an upset every now and then but these are just bad losses. We’ve lost 2 straight to Iowa which is unacceptable. I know Kentucky was a few years ago but the loss was a bad loss just like the Minnesota losses. Bottom line is James Franklin ain’t gettin it done Lake.

@lakerie Good point about not so many PSU portal players, didn't even considering that angle.

As much as I'd like to say, if it were me, I'd play until the end of the season. I can only imagine how hard it would be to make the decision between opting out vs possibly getting hurt and ruining your chance at winning the NFL lottery for big $. Then again, looking around at some of the retired pro players, you have to ask yourself, is the money worth your health? As some here have attested, I only played HS sports and know what that did to my poor, abused, arthritic body.

It used to be that fir any game you could feel confident about winning or the potential to pull it off. Looking at it now just looks and feels like what I used to think about MSU, Purdue, Wisky etc. and that was, good team but they aren’t going to win or will find a way to lose. Basically just a second to third tier program.

Another thing to wonder about. While the rest of the college football system seems to think all our coaches, including Franklin, are worth having, why doesn't that add up to a well coached PSU team?
