Kind of hard to say at the moment what will be the outcome, stay or go. However, it appears now that he will be cleared and ready to coach soon. Appears he made all the right decisions and followed the protocols. Even told him outright, "If I find out you hit her, you're gone". He runs a clean program and to the best of my knowledge, Urban is a Christian church goer.
All of the OSU haters continue to stand in the corner and wait for those "golden parachutes", hoping he gets canned.
Time will tell. Soon coaches will need to ensure that his players brush their teeth twice a day.
Crazy times...
Snakeoil
"Clean Program"
Florida fans would get a chuckle hearing that phrase and Urban Meyer in the same sentence. The man won 2 NCs for the Gators and they hate him for how he basically let people get away with anything they wanted. Over 31 players arrested for domestic violence, stalking, concealed weapons, aggrevated assault, etc. Even his coaches had issues there.
Urban Meyer is exactly the type of coach that makes me glad we have Franklin on staff. Meyer thinks punishment is sitting a player for an FCS team, while Franklin sees punishment as sitting someone for the Rose Bowl or kicking them off the team if the violation was bad enough. Of course every program and coach will have something bad happen, hard to get around that... But habitual behavior and consistant lack of dicipline is a hallmark of Meyer's tenure as coach. His history speaks for itself
He's a Christian church goer?? As opposed to a non-Christian church goer or a Christian non-church goer?? Urban may well coach again for OSU, but please dont try to tell us he runs a clean program. We all know better, even the people of Columbus. BTW......were you one of the 100 idiots protesting outside the stadium on Monday night?? Real smart move having Ezekiel Elliot's father in attendance.....lol
I have posted this a few times on the previous forum... The University of Florida tolerated all of his nonsense as long as he was winning... The reason he was told to leave UF are twofold... He was having an affair with a 21 year old coed who happened to be an acquaintance of my daughter and his wife found out and so did the University.. . That was the catalyst that brought on his departure... The circle of trust nonsense was used to ensure he left and was just another reason... Had the affair never been discovered Ole cousin Urban may still be coaching there...he is a true scumbag... I also want to comment on Homer's earlier postings... When a person or society begins to accept lying, cheating and stealing by individuals in leadership and power to justify a means to promote their specific agendas those people and their society is doomed... If I ask someone a question I expect a truthful response as if I am asked a question I would expect that the person asking me would want an honest and truthful answer in return... I am concerned that so many people are accepting lying as being no big deal. . I don't give a shit what political party or who it is... Lying, cheating and stealing is wrong and should never be tolerated or acceptable... What are we.teaching our kids?
Well said FD - deciding on which group of people it is okay to lie too is wrong beyond wrong and needs to be nipped in the bud if we wish to maintain a civil society.
Just because someone asks the question does not imply that it needs to be answered, whether truthfully or with a lie. A new standard phrase such as ..."I'm not interested in making a comment on that subject at this time" should be used. With reporters always trying to "getcha" - a stock response like that is way better then a lie.
There are ZERO laws that say you must always tell the press the truth. Just like there are obviously ZERO laws that say the press must always print the truth.
Getting upset because someone lied to the scumbag press is ridiculous especially when the press doesn't know how to tell the truth itself.
Funny thing is that you people on this forum know why you are saying what you are and it has nothing to do with your alleged morals. Plain and simple you want Urbs gone but I guarantee if the shoe was on the other foot you'd all be in here defending JF till the end just like you defended JV
Stop being a bunch of hypocrites.
Homer I like you and respect you but we must agree to disagree on this one... Lying, cheating and stealing is Always wrong. To lie on public record is not only wrong but stupid... Everything today is recorded so their is a visual record of what you say and do... I am sorry my friend but my eyes dont lie... I believe what i see on video tape not the alternative facts trying to explain away what I see... I was aware of old cousin Urban antics a dozen or so years ago... My grandfather always told me what is done in the dark always comes to the light. .
Lying to the press is not "on public record" he was not sworn to tell the truth.
I love how sports fans always have "high morals" when it's not their guy on the hotseat. Where were these morals during the Sandusky scandal? Pretty funny how little morals you all had over on PL back then.
Umm, yeah there are laws that say the press must print the truth. It's called libel. The press isn't allowed to knowingly defame a person in print. To do so is illegal.
Public record has nothing to do with taking an oath. Public record means it's public, it's out there, it's on the record. It happened in the open.
You're thinking of "on the stand", or something else.
Homer...When you speak to the media on the record this day and age 90.99% of the time you are being taped audioly and more than likely on video as well...How many times in a person's life are they under oath or sworn in to answer a question? I am sure a large segment of our population has never been sworn in or under oath and most people might have experienced this only once or twice in their lifetime... If the point you are making is that if you aren't under oath or sworn in then it is ok to lie that to me is a scary thought process... As I stated earlier when I ask a question I expect an honest and truthful answer... If I am asked a question I am sure the person asking wants a truthful and honest response... This speaks volumes to a person's character and integrity... I guess I am just getting old...
And saying I defended JVP numerous times won't make it true. While I feel the press did him a disservice, I felt that he should have been let go. I stated this at the time.
I feel the same way about Meyer, not because of this one single incident but because it is the latest piece of a pattern of behavior from him
I also don't get this "lying press" angle. It's prove that everything they said in this case is true. He lied about knowing... Fact. The press never said he definitively knew, they said his wife knew and had proof of it. At that point they said he likely knew, and Meyer himself then confirmed it.
The press has not lied about this story, Meyer has. It's amazing that a person lies, and some people then argue the people who caught him in the lie are the ones who are lying. Even though the liar admitted they were right. ROTFLMAO
This isn't only about lying once, it's about what he was lying about and the pattern of his behavior. He lied about knowing of domestic abuse issues, and he's lied before about knowing his players were doing nasty stuff (at Florida), including one of his players threatening to kill their girlfriend for pete's sake. I mean, the dude just lies... a lot.
IMO he should be fired. That's just my opinion, if he stays he stays.
You guys are so blind to what you are saying today compared to what you were saying in 2012 that it's almost laughable. I get it, you want him fired no matter what because it would be an obstacle out of the way and a little clearer path to the B1G championship and National Playoff, I'm sure there are a lot of fans just like you guys all across the country.
For the bajillionth time NO ONE IS LEGALLY OBLIGATED to tell the press the truth. There are ZERO punishments on record for that deed, it is not written in any laws and it is not written in his contract.
Stop feeding me your BS about how your all deeply religious and have developed all these high morals that were missing 6 years ago as obviously it's nothing more than BS.
And I have never said that the press has lied about this Urban story. What I am saying is with their record of lies and agenda based reporting that it is laughable for them to get upset when someone doesn't tell them the truth.
1. I'm not religious, at all. You responded to my post, so I have no idea why you brought that up. I'm agnostic.
2. Southern has already backed up my claim that I said JVP should be fired 6 years ago, so your claim that I'm a hypocrite because of that is also pure BS. I've been consistent.
3. For some reason you've convinced yourself that someone can't be fired unless they have done something illegal, which is nonsense. There's literally no workplace in America that has that standard for firing someone. People are fired every single day without breaking any laws. Being bad at their jobs, lying, backstabbing, etc. Heck, people get fired for just being grumpy all the time. I know someone who was fired because they "didn't foster a professional and fair work environment".
Again, all I am saying is that I would fire him. That's my opinion, but I'm not going to get all crazy and butthurt if Ohio State decides to keep him as Head Coach. He's their coach, and they decide what to do with him... not me. But I can certainly have an opinion on the matter.
Never heard Urban was porking a young coed. I thought that was Bobby Petrino.
What is most disturbing is that some people think lying is acceptable and apparently have no problem applying it to their every day living. My grandfather taught me that if you never tell a lie, you wont have trouble remembering what you said. He also said that if you have to lie about the little things, what are you going to do when the major issues arise??
There are those of us who value things like honor, integrity, and honesty as they go thru their walk in life. Urban loses all credibility whether he goes or stays. If OSU wants him representing their University, so be it. I still think that the board at OSU has to be reeling with all the crap that's hit them this summer. In light of all that has happened with their wrestling team, the diving coach sexually molesting a diver and now Urban being Urban.....i cant see how he survives this one.
Yes he was in a relationship with a 21 year old coed at UF... The young lady and my daughter were aquaintences who hung out from time to time... The guy is a morraly and ethically bereft scumbag... He is no longer welcome at UF...My question is if it is OK for Urban Meyer to lie then is it safe to say it is OK for his players to lie as well... Isn't a coach to set an example for his players to follow?
Upset? They are reporting what happened. The only people getting upset are on opinion shows, not news programs. Again, we really need to understand what an opinion show is, and what news reporting is.
ESPN has guys in the field reporting on what is happening. They aren't saying anything else other than the facts. The people getting "upset" are the ones in the studio on shows like First Take, which is complete spin and opinion. Again, NOT NEWS.
I am having a difficult time understanding what agenda based reporting is... It is the media's job to present us with the news of the day... There are laws to protect people from the media if they report something that isn't true or is biased and hurtful and that is slander and liable...We may not like the reports but that doesn't make them untrue just because we don't like them...I have had my fair Shakir of dealings with reporters and the news media since I was 13 years old and I can they always were honest and fair with me... That's just my experience....,
Well, you do have "lying." And if that doesn't fit your narrative you can always fall back on "alternative facts!"
Agenda based reporting, take a good look at your New York Times for an example.
