Huge loss.  Can't say I blame him.  I would have encouraged my son to do the same.  Wish him well wherever he lands.  Any clues to where?

Ok. Just heard from my granddaughter who said that Stevens had been seen on campus with an injured foot wearing a walking boot. In saying that, she never actually saw him, she's just hearing it second hand.

Even Franklin himself mentioned a few weeks ago, no guarantee of him staying. I don't blame him for leaving.

Basically, Franklin sums it up during question and answering.

He’s the backup QB we’ll be ok even if he leaves, I hope he stays but if he leaves I’m quite sure James Franklin has recruited guys that will step up and take his place, bottom line is if he leaves it’s because he’s not good enough to start? Alabama deals with this stuff every year and the way James Franklin is recruiting we will too. Murray you said 2 years ago we’d be facing this the way Franklin was recruitin g.

Not me I would tell my son to stay work hard because it will be your team your Sr year and that worked out pretty good for MROB? IMO it would be a privilege to be the star QB at penn st even if it’s just for one year, like I said look at the reputation MROB has at penn st. he’s up there with all the greatest players to ever play at penn st

Who's bickering? I simply asked you to provide a link where Franklin said what you claimed.

Tsuga: Ok, you asked. I'll answer. I emailed someone in regards to an article about the possibility of Stevens leaving. I asked in the email who exactly said it's possible Stevens will leave. Reply was , Franklin said it himself. This is a pretty legit source, friend who works in the media. Call me a liar, laugh at me if you wish. End of subject.

update: Stevens is injured and wearing a boot, using a scooter to get around campus. Could be why he hasn't attended, however, there were other injured players on the sidelines yesterday so the mystery continues.

As for the moron above and his email, Franklin NEVER said Tommy was leaving. No respected media member would lie like that.

But he got it from a legit source; a friend in the media. What's there to doubt about that?

I heard form Franklin's Barber that Jim shaves his head because he is balding! Also, I got it on good source from My friend's wife's nephew's mailman that there are more Rutgers flags flying in Centrailia than normal!!

Ha ha.   I personally don’t think he is going anywhere.  He is very close with his teammates and he dates a hot Penn State cheerleader.   He will be getting a lot of playing time and he will also have the keys to a Mercedes his senior year with all the talent on the team.

Good reporting BoP!! You must be a senior level writer with seniority. I hear-tell they're a rare find these days.

IMO Tommy Stevens isn't going anywhere, because to be a viable transfer candidate he needed to be in Spring practice somewhere else.  The reason is no one knows if he's a good passer or not.  There's no game film telling any other teams if he can read a defense, or break down coverages.

All they know is he wasn't a QB until his senior season in HS, and he went to Penn State where he lost out to Trace McSorely for QB.  A QB with a weaker arm, who's smaller than him, and isn't as good of a runner.  What's that tell you???  He struggles more than Trace with understanding coverage.

Of course he could have (a probably has) progressed as a QB since then, but what teams are going to risk a scholarship, sight unseen, on a QB 2-3 months before the season with 14 practices before the 1st game?  That's a big risk, plain and simple.  I'm sure some will be willing to do it, but are they teams Stevens wants to play for?  Are they good teams, or are they bottom dwellers who desperately need a playmaker?  And if the latter...  Why on earth would Stevens want to waste a year on that team when he's in line to take over a loaded squad his senior year?

All he has to do is look at Trubisky from UNC.  1 year starting as a senior = 1st round pick.  He has all the tools Trubisky did, just needs to read coverages and be accurate.  And if he stays at PSU, he will be showcased...  NO DOUBT.
