Tom Allen will be the next PSU DC. (according to my sources)
If so, I hope he has a plan for shutting down the air attack from the west coast teams.
With the NIL thing going on is the talent level falling off at teams like Indiana? I don’t know how all that stuff works
^Has to be. No different than small cap pro teams. Until there are parameters put around NIL, the wealthy will get wealthier, the rich will always get some, and mid tier down will remain the same, poor.
@southern-psu-fan I wouldn’t say it’s any different than it’s ever been at IU although they did lose two really good players to the portal this year. I know it’s wishful thinking but I’m hoping we sign both of those guys, one is a return specialist and the other is a 6’5” former QB that’s converted to receiver.
I guess Jimmy has a thing for fired head coaches.
@rip Maybe he is trying to establish his own version of the "Nick Saban Coach Rehabilitation Clinic" .......... links follow:

@Joe: What are you hearing about Poindexter?? I'd sure hate to see him go. He's an excellent recruiter.
I like the hire in Tom Allen. Looks like he’s got a good track record on the defensive side of the ball.
I just hope he doesn't undo all that Manny has done. The first time I see him put us in a prevent defense, I think I'll upchuck, lol.
I posted this a week or so ago. I read something that said JF and Allen were good friends and that Allen 'Supposedly" was a good defensive coach/play caller. I don't know much about Allen ( other than his time at Indiana ) but I hope whatever I read was true about his ability. The good thing is he has Big10 experience, faced the same teams we play, so there shouldn't be too much of a learning curve in THAT aspect.
Like they say. A good Offense is your best Defense, so hopefully we got the right OC for 2024!!!
Go State!!
Oh wait. Is this the same guy who cheated penn state in 2020? You know , that TD that was so called BS.
I think it was a bit of sarcasm, I dont think he meant literal cheating... though you never know lolI don't think anyone accused TA of cheating PSU on that play. The refs however blew that call.Oh wait. Is this the same guy who cheated penn state in 2020? You know , that TD that was so called BS.
Please show where anyone on here accused TA of cheating.
Anyone else feeling somewhat disappointed in this hire?? I hear he is the nicest guy in the world ,but is he really the caliber of coach that we were hoping for? I think he was hired because of his friendly demeanor and James felt bad that a super great guy lost a job, but as far as a coach, I'm pretty sure he is just a run of the mill coach, no true excellence, just blah blah. I hope I'm wrong though, maybe his blah blah record was due to inferior athletes, lets see what he can do with some 4 and 5 star talent.
Who cares what his record as HC was, we hired him as DC. Manny Diaz sucked in his first stint as a head coach too.Anyone else feeling somewhat disappointed in this hire?? Indiana had some competitive teams under his watch. There’s a few on here that was nervous every time we play Indiana. Shoot they beat us one year lol. It’s a good hire by James Franklin.
Tom Allen did just as good of a job at Indiana as Manny did in Miami. I’d also say Tom didn’t have the talent that manny did either. Gotta have the players.
@roaminglion Considering JF continuously says the coordinators are the HCs of their respective disciplines it seems relevant. But you’re the senior level analyst not me.
@southern-psu-fan lol Well, the refs helped them beat PSU
Yeah, a nice soundbyte sure means being a coordinator is just like being a head coach of the whole team.@roaminglion Considering JF continuously says the coordinators are the HCs of their respective disciplines it seems relevant. But you’re the senior level analyst not me.
Makes sense.
