I hear Allen lurked here and heard some members bad mouthing his defense so he was afraid for his job. And maybe he just wasn't a fit as a 'players coach' at PSU. 😎

You’re probably right, it happened so fast that it seems like no one at PSU cared if he left. Hopefully we have a backup plan.
I thought he did a dang good job. This was a rebuilt defense from what manny had. The defense was dynamite during g the playoffs. If I was going to want a coach gone it would be the QB’s coach and OC. I didn’t see much difference against the heavyweights this year we stunk on offense during the playoffs and against Ohio State.
I know we went 13-3 and made the big 10 championship game and made the playoffs and that’s good make no mistake about it. James Franklin is a very good coach but I don’t believe he’s going to take us to the promise land winning a National Championship and it breaks my heart saying it but it’s just where I see things after this year. Penn St is satisfied as long as the money keeps coming in and folk like My man Mtnittany keeps buying seasons tickets and there’s not a dang thing wrong if you’re satisfied.
I remember 10 or so years ago I was on the Rutgers forum and remoh and tsuga was going at it somebody shit in remoh’s cereal that morning and he was kinda grouchy and tsuga was at it with remoh about something about Penn St football and I remember tsuga telling remoh, he was an old man and he wanted just to see Penn St win another national championship and that’s where I am today baby. I want a national championship and win our fair share against the big dawgs and I ain’t seeing it anymore with James Franklin. I still love the guy and he’s a top 10 coach but you have to be a top 5 coach to win the NC. We can be Dale Earnhardt where we win 2 more championships or we can take the Jeff Gordon route stick with being dam good but an uphill battle winning a NC. This is where eyes is today. One more year and I want the Dale Earnhardt route because somebody has to be held accountable baby.
IMO James Franklin is Mark Richt but would you rather have Kirby Smart? One more year we have a lot of good football players coming back hopefully James Franklin proves me wrong I’m his biggest cheerleader on that.
I believe had Ohio State lost to Tennessee they would have fired coach Day and started looking for a Kirby Smart. The Ohio State offense picked their game up and beat Oregon and Texas and will demolish ND just wait and see.
@southern-psu-fan The B1G is going to be brutal next season so it’s going to take a lot more than just 5 or 6 guys coming back to make us competitive. I’m not getting giddy about next years team until we win in Columbus.

Not saying Allen was a bad coach, just that my thought's are he could/should have had the boys ready to go right out of the gate. Great 2nd 1/2 adjustments, usually. But the opponent's opening drive success/scoring was a bit concerning.
Not sure how much you can blame Allar's happy feet under pressure on the QB coach. You can see Drew's throwing mechanics have improved. You can see he's better at taking off and scrambling when the WR's are out there twiddling their thumbs. But the pressure situation, happy feet, that's Drew's. Hopefully he can get that worked out in his head.
Coach K's had some pretty odd play calling. To his credit, he did draw up some nice plays. But the whole "we gotta throw it" when the opposing D couldn't stop the run, just plain irritating.
My poor shepherd/lab. When my kid comes over to watch the games; as soon as she sees it's football on TV, she heads for her crate to hide, 'cause of all the yelling.
Sometimes his play calling reminded me of an old NFL photo I had as a kid, I think the Browns: The QB is in the huddle, it's 4th and a foot, and the QB calls the play, "we're going for The Bomb".

I could be wrong because I’m working out on my bow flex listening to some stuff on Penn St football and these dudes if I heard ‘em right said the WR’s coach ain’t going anywhere. It’s the pickle dude on pennlive that I was listening too. I think it’s the same dude anyway. In his opinion we just need new receivers. I don’t know gotta try something.

I get the feeling some folks didn’t care for Tom Allen. This was a rebuild on the defense this year and it was a top notch defense just as good if not better than mannys’s first year. Just a vibe I’m getting listening to some of these shows I’m listening too. Poindexter will probably be the guy according to the dude on Locked on nittany lions. Tom was good imo but he had some studs to work with. I wish somebody would tell Kobe King he definitely needs another year in college I hate seeing these guys leave when they’re not ready. He’s good but imo he’s not ready for the NFL.

That's not really saying much, considering Manny took over a defense that averaged 350 yards per game in total defense, while Allen took over a defense that averaged 247 yards per game.
Manny rebuilt the D, Allen just reloaded.
