#1 Crimson Tide baby!
#2 Georgia
#3 Ohio St
#4 penn st
#5 Clemson
I have LSU on the outside looking in again this week. Now y’all know why I don’t have Oklahoma in my true top 5. They’re good but nothing special.
Brother I'm starting to think more and more that you are actually a Tide fan who just cheers for PSU on the side!! 😉
Lol, got a lot of family that’s Alabama fans navylion so I pull for ‘em unless they are playing penn st or Ga Tech. Man navylion my Jackets are struggling this year, hopefully they get some things fixed so they can make a bowl but as long as Penn st wins I’m sasified lol
No, he's a brainwashed Southerner that watches ESPN fanatically and believes everything they tell him not knowing that ESPN is only trying to protect their investment.
I'm in the south right now and am running into brainwashed dupes everywhere.
8 more games will say much.
Remoh you know good and well I hardly ever watch ESPN unless penn st or another team I like is on. I don’t like ESPN any better than you do. I wish the big 10 network would carry all penn st’s games. I’m just being honest when I put Alabama #1, matter of fact my true top 5 is exactly how I see the rankings. What’s your top 5 or who do you think the #1 team is? Alabama looks brutal to me
Oh what a bunch of BS. I mean seriously, Alabama has won 5 NCs and you guys act like it's some sort of conspiracy that includes ESPN,the rankings, and the refs who must be throwing games.
SEC won 10 BCS games, and the only response is "rigged". Even though they slapped around OSU twice, the Big 12 a few times, the Pac 12, the ACC, Notre Dame, and yes... Another SEC team once. But yet, none of that matters because their was probably some conspiracy that placed an SEC team against some patsy?
Last two Big Ten CFP games??? Outscored 69-0 by those "southern teams". Get out of here with this &#&@ tinfoil nonsense. Why was the Big Ten Champ left out the past two years? Because both teams got bitch slapped by 3rd place divisional teams by 30+, that's why.
Right to the point roam. Like I have said, if PSU wins Saturday night, the Nittany Lions will move up in the polls. If Penn State wins out and makes the playoffs and then wins both games, the college from State College will be declared NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.
I don't deal in ancient history but take each individual season for what it is... What was the greatest conference to bless a college football fields record in bowl games last year? Yet the get 2 teams in the CFP over 2 conference champions and an undefeated team who happened to slap the shit out of Auburn who happened to beat the team that got into the CFP without even qualifying to play for their own conference championship.... That isn't tin foil bullshit but fact...The fact is they sent 2 teams from a weak conference in over 2 conference Champs and an undefeated team... Sorry... That makes the whole thing a beauty pageant and not a true playoff... The whole thing is a farce...
I agree we got slapped around by Michigan in 2016 but at the end of the season we were a top 4 team and the scam committee said they were going to get the best 4 teams not the best 4 teams with the best record. the system is garbage and is the BCS with 4 teams instead of 2 teams. I don’t think the games are rigged I believe who gets in the playoffs is rigged. IMO you should have to win a conference championship to get in the playoffs. There’s a reason we have the conference championship games and there’s a reason one team wins the conference. Heck under this crap we got why have a conference championship game just take the top 4 teams at the end of the season?
Truthfully why play the games? Just sucks Saban balls some more and kiss Bama ass some more and give em a bye to the final...Hell why make em play a game til then? It really won't matter if they lose 1 or 2 or even 3 games cause they get a pass in... And if you arent going to allow a non power 5 school to play in the CFP even if they go unbeaten then drop em out of D1 and put em in the lower class...Bye the way... The year Clemson drilled OSU in the CFP they didn't belong there either... They screwed the conference champ out of playing in that game... Even though they beat em head to head... LOL..its a farce and a joke... They made a mockery out of the whole thing ..
FD, if Ohio State wanted to play in the CFP then they shouldn't have lost to Iowa by 30+ in NOVEMBER. Period.
You want facts? Here are some:
*Ohio State lost to Oklahoma by 15 points at home, and lost to unranked Iowa by 31 points.
*Alabama lost by 12 in a game that was 20-14 going into the 4th quarter.
Had Alabama been throttled by an unranked team, they wouldn't even be in this conversation. But the weren't, Ohio State was. Let me repeat... Ohio State was completely throttled by Iowa. Want to blame someone for OSU missing the CFP? Blame Iowa. Or better yet blame Ohio State.
Personally, I don't care about conference championships. I don't think if some Pac-12 team with 4 losses happens to win their conference, that makes them better than some 1 loss team in another conference that has the #1 team in the nation in their division. That's just stupid. You guys say "prove it on the field", yet completely discount what Ohio State did on Iowa's field: Lay a stinking pile of cow dung on the field, and on their chances to play in the CFP.
"The fact is they sent 2 teams from a weak conference in over 2 conference Champs and an undefeated team… "
Here's some more facts for you: Those two teams from a weak conference both beat two conference champions from the Big 12 and ACC. Oh yeah, and that team from the Big 12 beat Ohio State on the road.
Funny thing is everyone focused on Ohio State getting in back in 2016, and the team they should have been pissed about was Washington. In your world they were deserving because the won the Pac-12, in my world the Pac-12 was an average conference at best that year and Washington played a JOKE of an OOC schedule. But hey, "they won their conference" so let's put in a team everyone knows sucks a$$ just to see them get slaughtered by Clemson.
Take your bias out of it Southern. You keep saying "prove it on the field" yet always want to throw out the losses of your team because "they got better". Sorry, the whole season counts not just whatever slice of it you think is more important.
After all the arguing... let me clarify:
I hate the current system, I think it sucks. It should be 8 games to take any nonsense out of it. Take the five Power 5 conference champions, one best Group of 6 team, and 2 wild cards.
I don't care about all the lower conferences, sorry but winning the sun belt isn't the same as winning the Pac-12. Neither Utah nor TCU has won a conference title since moving up into the Power 5. TCU came close, but Baylor was the Big 12 champ in 2014 by virtue of beating them head to head.
Last year this would have resulted in:
#1 Clemson / #8 UCF*
#2 Oklahoma / #7 USC
#3 Georgia / #6 Wisconsin**
#4 Alabama** / #5 Ohio State
The previous year it would have been:
#1 Alabama / #8 Western Michigan*
#2 Clemson / #7 Oklahoma
#3 Ohio State** / #6 Michigan**
#4 Washington / #5 Penn State
IMO that's a much better way to do it. Both of those are strictly based on the final CFP rankings in 2016 & 2017, but you could also make a rule that no conference can take both wild cards.
Then do away with the conference championships then...You penalize teams that play in them...You're better off sitting at home...giving your team a bye week and not risking anybody getting hurt...Let's take a look at Bama's out of conference schedule...Louisville...Arkansas State...Louisiana Lafayette (Didn't even know they had a football team)...The Citadel....Lets look at their conference schedule...Ole Miss...A & M...Arkansas...Missouri...Tennessee...LSU...Miss St...Auburn....Now let me give you the first example of how they manipulate the rankings...They just beat A&M this week...A&M was never ranked in the top 25...They beat a cupcake week 1, lost to Auburn week 2 and beat another cupcake week 3...they were unranked for the preseason poll...After their week 1 win they were still unranked...were unranked after Auburn beat them and miraculously they become ranked after they beat the cupcake and right before they play Alabama...So that gives Bama a top 25 win EVEN though this team wasn't ranked all season until right BEFORE they played Bama...Looking at Bama's schedule they have one tough game and that is LSU on the road...How many TRUE top 25 teams are they going to face? LSU is...Is Miss St? How bout Auburn? how good are they? I say if you put any of those teams in the B1G east they lose 2 games...Wiretap was knocking Penn State's OFC schedule but it isn't like Bama is playing anybody worth a shit either...The SEC cried, bitched, pissed and moaned back when they proclaimed the SEC west was the toughest division in college football and deference should be given because of the tough conference schedule they played...Well you got the same thing going right now in the B1G east...And you can poo poo Ohio State losing to Iowa in their building but that place is no joke and to win a ballgame there isn't an easy task...Iowa has a lot of hides hanging on their wall from upsets in that building...There is no shame getting beat by Iowa in their building....Again for years the SEC beat the B1G over the head about bowl records...Why isn't anybody discussing the bowl records from last year? Again...What was the SEC's bowl record last year? Why was UCF left out and why isn't anybody discussing this? Didn't they kick Auburns ass in the bowl game? Didn't Auburn beat Alabama? Sorry but I ain't buying this SEC and ACC bullshit...
Why are you listing Alabama's current schedule? Last I checked they haven't picked the 4 teams that will play in the CFP this year yet.
Also, if you want to talk about manipulation of rankings and facts, then make sure they are correct next time.
Texas A&M didn't play Auburn yet this year. They went out of conference to play the #2 Clemson Tigers. After losing by 2 points, they were the 1st team in the "others receiving votes". Then Arizona State lost, as did USC and Boise State.
So if by "manipulating rankings" you mean 3 other teams just above them lost, then yeah the ranking group must have paid off some refs in those games to make sure USC, ASU, and BSU all lost.
And seriously... LOL to your "playing in Iowa is no joke" statement, like playing in Jordan-Hare at Auburn is some sort of picnic.
Also, did you just do the "UCF beat Auburn who beat Alabama" nonsense?
Here's my rebuttal that totally debunks that:
In 2016 - "Michigan beat Penn State who beat Ohio State.... oh wait"
One small difference Roam...UCF was undefeated...As I said...If you are going to leave out the non power 5 teams then assign them to another division and put the delusion to bed that those teams have a chance to win a national championship because they don't...As for the Clemson/Auburn mistake it has no affect on the fact that A&M was not ranked until right before they played Bama so for my argument it makes no difference to point...To say there isn't open manipulation in the polls to drive their agenda is pure nonsense....I posted Bama's schedule to prove a point in September that will become a reality in November and December...Watch how the teams they play get a mysterious bump in the polls just PRIOR to playing Bama so to inflate their SOS...The whole system is a farce plain and simple...
Regarding your Iowa/Auburn Statement...How many upsets have occurred at Iowa in the last 3 years? How many teams have they knocked off there? Michigan, Ohio State...Damn near knocked off Penn State and should have beat Wiscy Saturday if not for some boneheaded plays...Problem Auburn has is they are usually overrated and are favorites for all of their home games except Bama so the only "upset" they can ever get at home is if they beat Bama...My point is this Roam...5 years ago the SEC was the best conference and specifically the SEC west was the best division in college football...That isn't the case today nor was it the case last year...Last year the B1G was the best conference and the B1G east was the best division as is the case this year...It is time for the B1G to start receiving the benefit of the doubt that the SEC received back then...The B1G is the best conference in college football and the B1G east is the best division in college football...I recall when a 2 loss LSU team played for a national title because of how great that division was...Well why isn't a 2 loss B1G east division team entitled to the same benefit of the doubt???? This whole SEC nonsense is the same ACC basketball bullshit they try to peddle...It's all about money and TV contracts...ESPN has to protect their cash cow so they are going to do anything to push the whole SEC is the best conference narrative...It has become so transparent that even Kirk Herbstreit couldn't keep quiet about it last year...It's a joke and this whole thing is a farce...
I agree with you Roam but why not do the 16 team playoffs like the other divisions do? If everybody else can do a 16 team playoff why can't the big boys?
As I said below I am all for placing the best group of 5 team in the playoff. I like and 8 team playoff.
I just don't believe there's as much posturing and manipulation as you say. ESPN has no control over coaches or most AP reporters. In fact, most AP reporters with votes don't work for ESPN. Many I am sure don't like ESPN either.
Roam it’s the scam committee that said they can take who they want. They said when this crap was put together it’s about the 4 BEST teams regardless of how many losses at the end of the season. Under what you think is right they should’ve took UCF but even you say the system is rigged against teams like UCF gettin in. I don’t have a problem with a conference champ getting left out as long as a 4 power 5 conference champs playing on the playoffs. Yes one champ would get left out then you can use the argument Ohio st shouldnt have got blown out at Iowa. 5 power conferences champions take 4 and let them decide it on the field. This is simple to do the problem is the NCAA can’t fix who get in. It’s all about spreading the money not who the 4 best teams are.
What am I being biased about? I’m defending Ohio st and you know I don’t like Ohio st and me personally I’m glad they got left out but it’s still not right.
