By all accounts based on current players and development, again, looking at ~2 years before catch up in talent with perennial top 3-5 teams and everything else gelling. In the meantime, those teams should be just reloading barring HC changes.
IMO this scenario is the common denominator story line with the current HC and direction of the program.
Taking an optimistic look, it all comes together next year, we go into the playoffs pull a win or more and say we have arrived! The rest of the storyline to be played out afterwards.
Look, I agree with a lot of what you have to say so don't think I am arguing with you at all! JF let several games slide through his finger tips starting with the USC loss through last Saturdays Ohio State game. Some of it was coaching decisions and some of it was the lack of execution on the players side. All I am saying today is, Penn State has MORE talent on the field RIGHT NOW than they have had in any other year under JF. I really think next season it will be like having 2 Barkleys, 2 Gesickis, 3 Godwins and HOPEFULLY a QB on his way to becoming a Collins. I really think they are going to be that good. I am not saying they will beat both, Ohio State and Michigan next year, but they will one of those games. And with 4 games to go and two more months of practice, I think they will look great in their bowl game.
Just my opinion!
Go State!!
Here's the bottom line:
When Bama etc. goes into any game, as a fan do you fret over the potential outcome or mentally chalk it up as a win even if its a shrug your shoulder's win? They really do have 2 Barkleys.........
When PSU takes the field do you do the same or do you get nervous about MD, Wisky, etc and on the other hand flat out believe that OSU or Mich is going down? We have a bunch of potential right now as in the past 5-6 years, ...... Singleton and Allen aint Barkley; at least not yet. Barkleys freshman year, you knew that kid was flat out special; ain't the same with NS and KA, at least not yet.
IMO, thats the difference, hence the common denominator.
4th quarter collapse. Coaches fault again.
- Multiple turnovers, yea ultimately the coaches fault
- OSU decides to throw on 1st down and take advantage of an obvious weekness, yea I see how that could be the coaches fault.
- Not having the depth of a team that recruits in the top 4 every year and getting worn down, yea still the coaches fault
- Not kicking tne FG, well that was an interesting one but our kicker is suspect and FG's were probably not going to beat OSU. Coaches decision. Coaches recruiting and development of a kicker....
10-11 wins must be the coaches fault too? Some of them were in the 4th quarter? We beat them or the other team collapsed?
Perspective
But man they keep tearing my heart out.....
I have a good hunch Bama fans aren't chalking up the next two games as wins and I bet they are ALL nervous as well. They should have lost to Texas on the road, lost to the Vols on the road, had a little scare against Arkansas on the road before closing out that game and now #10 LSU and #11 Ole Miss on road. One more loss and they ain't in any better shape then Penn State and we don't have the talent they do.
GO STATE!
