JMO. Terry Smith Will be the next head coach. He's been there, knows the culture,  knows the ropes. I believe Kraft will keep the hire in house and see how things develop. I believe before Halloween the announcement will be made. Cignetti is a pipe dream at this time. Indiana will roll their remaining opponents and enter the CFP and perhaps win it all. Why would he leave? Matt Rhule? Does he have the same record as James? I don’t see any big time coaches knocking down the door for a opportunity to coach PSU football.

Lastly,  lower the expectations at Penn state. Concentrate on winning the B1G first before CFP.

@cohappy exactly! These next 6 games lets him prove himself. If he can win the locker room over he’ll be the next head coach at Penn State because we have the talent to finish 5-1 these next 6 games

Yes, all eyes will be on Saturday night and I wouldn't be surprised if Penn State heads home winning a tight game,  by a point.

I think Cignetti would jump at an opportunity to coach at PSU.  Coaching at PSU, Ohio State, ND, GA is not the same as Indiana. My goodness, Penn State will have a shot at beating them at home....because they have no business beating at the moment! lol

Right now, I am just being a fan, sticking behind the kids and hoping Grunk can keep his calm and play well.  We should have all seen the writing on the wall when they struggled to get anything going in the first 3 OOC games.  I am kind of excited to see what Grunk can do.

GO STATE!!

Indiana is all in on Cignetti and gives him everything he wants and it makes no sense for him to leave in the middle of what he has going.
He’s already making over $8mill and it would probably take over $10 mill a year to get him. His coordinators which he would want to bring are also well paid but would need a raise and then there’s all the buyouts.

It ain’t gonna happen.

@the-funeral-director It's definitely indigestion. He is 63, has everything he wants at Indiana, his wife loves Bloomington, and you think he will drop a great setup to come to Penn State? Why... because he lived in Pittsburgh 40 years ago?

I just don't see it.

No he would come to coach at a historic blue blood program with better facilities, premier stadium and a lot more resources to pull from...I don't see how you can compare coaching football at Indiana to coaching football at Penn State...55,000 seat stadium or a 110,000 seat stadium? The 2 programs aren't comparible...

I have to agree, 55K in the stands is paultry to 110K, but you gotta win to keep'em.

100+K is just a freaking show and a marketing tool that not too many programs can provide or live up to.

Terry smith is my first pick because of he gets the job that means we finished this season on a great note. Manny Diaz, Matt Rhule and I heard a name that I didn’t think of that would be a huge get, Jeff Brohm. This dude would bring some offense and hopefully Jim Knowles picks it up and he may stay.

Indiana has tons of resources, their NIL spend is equal to ours. Stop acting like coaches care about a blue blood program just because you do. He has Indiana at #3 in the nation, he could possible win a national title. What does any other program get him, a bigger stadium? Why would he care about that?

I dont think he is the choice regardless of season outcome. Id think they will let the season run its course and then announce mid December, at the latest, early Jan,  to at least give it a clean smell optic. And it would probably take a month to hammer out details and have a contingency plan in place.
If announced earlier, I think Urban was right in saying that it was already figured out before JF was fired.
Who’s sitting on the sidelines now that would be an exceptional fit if the decision has already been made?

I would not be surprised at all to find that they have the new head coach lined up already...They sure as hell had a plan in place before the season started regarding their expectations and what they were going to do if certain scenarios played out...I am shocked that in fact Indiana's NIL is in line with ours...I believe that will change when the new head coach is named...I am expecting the NIL budget to go up significantly...The donor's that sat on the sidelines under the Franklin era will start to open up their checkbooks to get this program back to where it belongs...This is going to be a very interesting few months...

I have to ask, why are you shocked by that? Indiana University is a huge school with tons of money, they just spent it on Basketball up until now.

Roam, what do you think about Jeff Brohm? Nobody here has said nothing when he’s the #4 guy on the list I seen on black shoes dairies. This dude can coach and he’s in his early 50’s

I don't think Brohm is leaving Louisville, it's not only his school but I think his whole family is royalty there
