Hard to get a read on this team because their quality of competition hasn't been quality or competitive.

Thanks for the link, very interesting.  I watched the 1st QTR of the Alabama State game and Auburn was flat and not overly impressive.  I doubt that Auburn will be flat in the 1st QTR against Penn State but the PSU defense has proven to be very good and should give the offense a chance to build a lead ......... if they don't give the ball away and if Clifford performs well.

In your opinion, do you think Auburn was hold back from showing anything considering it was a soft opponent?

@lakerie  Lake, that is definitely a possibility.  From the stat sheet, they went into the half 20-0 and the starters were on the bench mid-way through the 3rd QTR.  The game was never in doubt so it would make sense to avoid showing some capability and to hide tendencies.

From what I saw in the 1st QTR, it appeared that the Auburn players were grabbing and holding the Alabama State defenders often.  Were they actually Holding?  If they were, was it necessary to keep the defenders from being effective?  I'm just a casual observer.

I do think the PSU defense will be able to cause issues for the Auburn offense.  What is unclear is if the PSU offense will be able to move the ball consistently.  Clifford should have had a a huge day against Ball State but only managed 230 passing yards.  He is erratic - sometimes he throws a beautiful pass and at other times he is off the mark.  Washington bailed him out a few times against Ball State.  Thankfully he has held onto the ball and not made awful decisions.

Good grief, Penn State beat Wisconsin on the road and man handled a fairly good Ball State team.  And they can all say what the want, but Ball would destroy BOTH teams pretty much the same way Auburn did.

I know most of us don't want to look ahead, be over enthusiastic this early in the season, but Penn State is on the verge of having a break out season! I do agree with your point on Clifford! He needs to do a better job with the routine passes.  You are correct, he was bailed out several times against Ball State.

I don't think Auburn hangs around too long Saturday night! Hope I am not disappointed, but I can see Penn State lighting up Auburn if they just simply play their game and if they stay focused!!!

GO STATE!!!

Auburn has never seen anything like they are about to see Saturday night...109k crazed fans all dressed in white going berserk...They are going to face one of the best defenses in the country with crowd noise like they never experienced...Their snap counts will be off...no audibles...Penn State should beat them by at least 2 TD's and may blow em out...Auburns defense isn't on par with Wisky's...This is a statement game for Penn State and I expect them to come out and make a statement...
