If we lose to Rutgers, Franklin has to be gone. Even if we don't, he should be but it's a slam dunk if we do.
2-13 vs. Top 10 teams is god awful, especially if you are coaching a supposed top 10 team yourself. Part of me wants to lose next week just to get him out.
How many recruits will run if we lose the last 2 games?

They may stay to see if Yurcich gets the gig. Or Moorhead.
How much money would Penn St have to pay him if he gets fired? He may leave and if that’s the case you don’t have to give him anything, right?

If he leaves he'd have to pay his buyout (4 million), or have it paid. If he is fired, we would owe him money... probably $25-30 million or so through 2025.
Yurcich hasn't showed me anything...He is the offensive coordinator of an offense that can't score points...He has done nothing to show me that he belongs to even be considered for the head coaching job...Moorhead would be another guy I would pursue...Fickell, Bob Stoops, Munchak & Moorhead would be my targets...

So you just ignore his 9 years of absolute success because he inherited an offensive line that can't block in his first year here? No to mention the fact that Franklin is forcing him to "commit to the run" when everything we've seen previously regarding Yurcich says he adapts and changes his scheme to succeed?
I mean, damn dude he has been the premier OC in the country for years... and Moorhead, a guy who failed as a head coach, is someone you'd consider though?
I am going by what I have seen from these 2 guys...I have no idea what Franklin is "making" Yurcich do or not do...The offensive line stinks but there are things you can do formationally to compensate...I know what Moorhead did as an offensive coordinator when he was here and that the offense has sucked since he left...I admit I know nothing about Yurcich but what I have seen this season and I am not impressed...If your asking me to choose between Moorhead or Yurcich it's an easy choice for me...

Let's put it this way... Yurcich has had offenses that were among the best rushing in the country, and he's had offenses that were among the best passing in the country. He's done it in multiple locations, in multiple Power 5 conferences. Franklin is on record stating multiple times that he is "committed to the run", and during the game last week you could see visible disgust on Yurcich's face at certain points when talking to Franklin.
It is quite clear what is going on IMO.
Franklin's post game presser comments,"We knew their defensive ends were going to be a problem. We had plans to chip them for most of the day, we had plans to screen them as much as we could. And then obviously, staying with the run game and not going away from the run game."
Like I said...I saw this team when Moorhead was the OC and when this guy Yurcich is the OC...No comparison...I will take your word that Yurcich had great success over the last 9 years...My question is a simple one...Why isn't he successful this year? Offensive line sucks...Ok we all know that...There are things you can do to work around and augment the weakness...I have seen nothing from this offensive coordinator from a game planning standpoint to implement any of the things you can do to try to neutralize the weaknesses of your offensive line...Is it on him? Is it orders from Franklin? I have no idea as I am not in the room...I only go by what I see and what I have seen so far from the offense has been terrible...I respect your opinions but I am curious as to think why you believe Yurcich would be any better than Franklin?

Because he has been THE TOP of his craft in other places. He absolutely knows what he is doing, and Moorhead? He had an offensive line OF PLAYERS THAT WERE DRAFTED INTO THE NFL. Menet, McGovern, Bates, etc.
None of these jokers in the middle of our line will be drafted at all, let alone play in the NFL. So comparing the line from then to now isn't really fair IMO. One had actual talent, this line has a guy who never played center before, a transfer from Harvard, and a guy who was in a serious auto accident 2 years ago. LMAO.
Hopefully the guy can recruit...I would rather see somebody with some head coaching experience...I would talk to Fickell, Stoops and Munchak first...If this guy Yurcich is held in high regard I am sure if Franklin goes he will get an interview...
Yurcich is NOT the guy we want as the HC at Penn State....unless JF is completely controlling his ability to call the plays HE would rather call. He didn't call ONE screen pass today!! All that pressure up the middle and not once did he call a screen. And all those passes out on the flats? That sideline is like having a 12th defensive player on the field. And he threw to his best receiver how many times today? Or engaged the best Penn State player how many times today.
I don't know who the best fit is at this point, but it is NOT anyone coaching at Penn State today.
@mtnittanylion If I was betting my money on who the next guy will be, it would be Joe Moorhead

My lord just look at the 9 years previous, you will see what kind of OC he is.
You don't have 9 years of success at multiple schools without knowing what you are doing. Forest through the trees

What happened to Schiano? You started a post about it. Still waiting for your reply!!!

I agree. I am hoping we lose and he is fired on the Monday after. Rutgers plays better on the road and has to win 2 of their next 3 to be bowl eligible so they are going to be fired up.

@navylion I believe he would be a good coach but I believe Joe Moorhead will be the guy if I was to bet money on it. I’ll take either one brother.
Y’all Count me out, I never pull against Penn St to lose I hope we give Rutgers and Michigan State a beat down and try to get 9 wins with a Bowl victory.
@the-funeral-director I think you hit the nail on the head. What has been the constant the last 8 years, JF has and for the most part a bad offensive line. I would like to know who is calling the plays and how much involvement Franklin has coaching the offense. No matter what offensive coaches or coordinator there is with a very few exceptions, it has been the same result. Go back and get rid of the constant.

You still didn't answer my question from the other thread. Why would he be a good choice for PSU head coach?
What did Schiano get done at Rutgers? In 11 seasons his first go around he had 1 11 win season in 2006 which put Rutgers tied for 2nd in the Big East. He had 2 9 win seasons and 2 8 win seasons and 4 seasons with less than 4 wins. The other 2 seasons were 7-5 and 5-7.
He had a total win loss record in the Big East when he left of 68-67 and a conference record of 28-48.
In the Big 10 he has an overall record of 8-11, 5-11 conference.
His overall college head coach coaching record is 76-78. THAT's the dude you think should be our next coach? WTF??
Gosh dang, Franklin's 11 year win loss 90-47 over all. Shiano IMO would be a major downgrade and a step backwards! If the choice is JF or Schiano, I'll stick with JF!!!!
@navylion brother, we’re talking about Rutgers here probably one of the biggest bottom feeders in all of college football and he was winning 11 games and 9 games sending guys to the NFL. What he did at Rutgers his first time around was very impressive they were the doormat of college football and if I remember right, didn’t he knock off a top 5 team back then the team may have been ranked #1 I can’t remember but I know it was a big win for ‘em it’s when they had Ray Rice. Give him a job like Penn State and some great things might happen.
Mark Stoops and Luke Fickell would be the two at the top of my list followed by Yurcich and Campbell.
