Nothing subjective about this, these are the actual records of all the starting QB's vs. ranked opponents during Franklin's time as head coach at Penn State:
- Hackenberg: 0-7 (0%) started 2 years
- McSorley: 5-7 (71%) started 3 years
- Clifford: 6-10 (60%) started 4 years
- Allar: 4-6 (67%) started 2 years
Here are their records against top 10 opponents:
- Hackenberg: 0-3 (0%)
- McSorley: 2-5 (40%)
- Clifford: 1-7 (14%)
- Allar: 2-5 (40%)
Losses to unranked teams:
- Hackenberg: 6
- McSorley: 2
- Clifford: 5
- Allar: 0
For those saying Allar is not a "winner" or can't win the "big games"... there are the cold, hard numbers. Simple fact is, if you are using wins and losses as a barometer... he's been as good as McSorley was against the top ten and all ranked opponents. Clifford had a decent record against ranked opponents, but against the top 10 he sucked.
So I don't want to here this crap that Clifford could win the "big game" and Allar couldn't. It's complete subjective BS. There are your numbers. In 2 years Allar has beaten more top 10 teams than Clifford ever did in 4 years starting, and the same amount as McSorley in 3 years here. This is not a comparison of skill or how good I think they are, it's a simple rebuttal to the "can't win big games narrative that people want to wax poetic about the good ole days when McSorley won all these big games that Allar can't.
Simple fact is, for whatever reason, when it comes to wins and losses... Allar isn't as bad in "big games" as some people want to portray.
Allar was 1 and 6 against top 10 teams which is 16.7%. Win was against Boise State. Two losses to Ohio State, and losses to Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
SMU is #10 in the CFP and Ole miss was not top 10 when he played them in any rankings. Nice try to manipulate the numbers, but you're wrong.Allar was 1 and 6 against top 10 teams which is 16.7%. Win was against Boise State. Two losses to Ohio State, and losses to Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
He gets what? How to get the numbers wrong and try and spin it? SMU was top 10 and Ole Miss was not. Sorry in your subjective universe you don't like it, but that was what the rankings were when PSU played each team.@delcoirish Somebody gets it!
@roaminglion ain’t nobody buying SMU and Boise State roam that’s what I’m trying to tell you and Allar played like shit in both games we could’ve beat both teams with #44 playing QB
Exactly, your subjective hypothetical bullcrap of "I don't care what they were actually ranked, I don't like it so therefore it doesn't count"@roaminglion ain’t nobody buying SMU and Boise State roam that’s what I’m trying to tell you and Allar played like shit in both games we could’ve beat both teams with #44 playing QB
In your fantasy land beating 6-6 Michigan is better than beating a top ranked team "because I like their name better"
@roaminglion I already know we can beat SMU and Boise State Roam, I want to beat Oregon, ND, Ohio State, Michigan, ole Miss teams that have the same talent level.
When Michigan is 5-4, I don't give a crap that their name is Michigan. If Maryland can beat them, I already know we can beat them.@roaminglion I already know we can beat SMU and Boise State Roam, I want to beat Oregon, ND, Ohio State, Michigan, ole Miss teams that have the same talent level.
So who f%#^#ing cares
All you just said was I don't give a crap about rankings except when it's a team with a big name.
@roaminglion Little sensitive are you! Ole Miss was # 9 in the final AP and Coaches Poll in 2023. SMU was # 12 in the final regular season AP Poll in 2024. So your wrong again. But what can we expect from a 300 lb fat ass that cleans tires and rims for a living. BYE!

I’m actually sold on Boise and that game was closer than the final score. SMU did nothing at all to impress me.

Looks like we have a new troll and it looks like he has potential !! Who misses niccy now?
@delcoirish get on back in here Joe we all just a little grouchy from the devastating loss to ND 😂 it’s the worst loss since 1992 to ND and this one is worse…fudge ND!

You’re never going to get through to him Roam. I thought he was starting to see the light but he’s rapidly regressing back to the old SouthernPSUFan.
I am not wrong again, I am using the CFP poll which is what matters. Also, Southern and others always use what they are ranked when you play, not what they are ranked at the end of the year.@roaminglion Little sensitive are you! So again, no I am not wrong. Those were the rankings when we played them. Try to keep up.
As for your insult... LMAO, is that your go to internet tough guy move?
