I’ll leave this here for you closet Southern Columbia fans on here 🤣

Bishop Guilfoyle moving up to 2A

I wasn’t aware that the PIAA implemented this rule. Long story short, the schools get reclassified every two years based on enrollment and recent success. Teams with the most success points will have to move up a classification. The following article has some explanation in it.

It's a BS rule for teams that are already voluntarily playing up in class.

@psujoe I don’t have an issue with Aliquippa staying in 4A, but I also don’t feel bad for a team like BG who has dominated at 1A while recruiting from as far away as 30-40 miles. They should want to challenge themselves at the next level, no? Isn’t that the goal? To compete and be challenged?

Good question and not one I can answer. I do remember McDevitt was one that played up years ago but am not sure if they still do.

Southern Columbia to 3A where they belong. If you only knew. They will probably run into either Wyomissing or Center Valley in playoffs 2022. Get pounded. Some of these teams have 10 weeks of practice pounding on inferior opponents  before playoffs begin. The succes factor rule in piaa is in effect.  One reason to the rule is influx of athletes from surrounding school districts. I stood by the fence at 2021 Southern columbia vs Wyomissing game.

I agree with most aspects of the rule, it's great that they're making these schools like B. Guilfoyle that recruit and dominate step up in class! But the rule needs to be tweaked a little, I don't believe they should force schools go up more than 2 classifications.

Yeah, I briefly recall Murray got the ball rolling on this. It was his proposal.

He was one of the members of this forum.  He no longer posts here. Has his own high school football website.

Yes, I believe so. He loves HS football and promoted his website numerous times here. Truly dedicated to football.  Not sure why he has left the forum here. I believe he was in a few arguments here.

@forum-titan  You're right, he does know his stuff about HS football. If its the same guy I'm thinking about he was never able to keep his political views separate from his work.  It's one thing to be passionate about politics but man is it ever dangerous to be too far left or right.  If its the same guy im thinking of, he was kind of scary in some of his thinking.

I actually miss Bill...He really posted some good stuff here and he was a great contributor to this forum...I honestly wish he would come back and post...I have no hard feelings towards him...I don't agree with his politics but everybody is entitled to their opinion...I just enjoyed reading his thoughts on football and the Penn State football program...It is ok to disagree with people and to hash it out in a civil and respectful way as that is how you learn and grow as a human being...The trouble with our society and culture right now is that we don't debate and exchange ideas anymore...Disagreements don't need to be toxic, hateful and devolve into hatred...Hell I go at it with my friends Southern and Roam all the time...I learn a lot from those guys...That is what makes this forum enjoyable...I really hope ole Murray comes back...He added a lot of value to this forum...

@southern-psu-fan  I have no idea what "went down" with the guy. I'm not even sure if he's the same guy I know of.

The description that one of the other posters seemed similar to a guy I know of.

You have the right guy T...His moniker here was Bill Murray but his name is Billy Splain...He was one of the most frequent posters on this forum and then poof...he disappeared...I honestly hope he returns to the forum...He had a lot of good insight regarding football in general and had a ton of great info on the Penn State football program...I miss the guy...

I never heard Murray talking about politics maybe once or twice. It was Covid-19 talk that got him in the doghouse, right?

If my memory serves me correct he guaranteed full stadiums for the 2020 season and that Covid-19 was more or less a hoax...I believe that was story line that precipitated his voluntary exit from this forum...It wasn't like he was told to get out or anything...He just more or less disappeared...
