I read a bunch of articles about which teams were overrated heading into the season. The three that were on everyone's list?
Iowa State, Texas, and Miami

ND stays above us after a squeaker with an unranked team.
A&M similarly to ND has been exposed but doesn't fall.

I think Oregon jumps PSU but Ohio State, Iowa State and ND fall behind them. I am thinking they move up to #9. Not a lot of big games next week other than Bama vs Florida. If Penn State can pull out a win against Auburn, I could see them jumping ahead and maybe to even #5 unless Florida pulls a stunner.

If so we stay at 11 even though two above us lost and 2 won on the final drive....oh well, long season. But then even when we beat Auburn if no one above us loses then we stay at 11 some more. Those useless preseason rankings are unreasonably 'sticky'.

We tend to have to earn our ranking and too often we have dropped a load when we were ranked and didn't earn it. But at this point only Iowa and OR have earned their ranking more than us. We beat Auburn and we definitely deserve to jump some people like A&M and ND. The problem is that the one loss teams that make the playoffs tend to have high early ranking so it does matter. We will need to win the conference with 1 loss or less to have a chance and that means beating OSU or the West winner twice Assuming (Wisc or Iowa).
A lot of games to be played and the team also has to avoid a Wuhan Forfeit.
