Well, what can I say. It's 7:30pm now, just finished watching the 1st half. Am I really seeing this - a 6th rank team with 4* linemen unable to to block slower, underweight CFS opponents? If I were the coach, I would bench the entire 1st string line and play the 2's - maybe they have the heart and football IQ's to get the job done. Now, could there be adjustments made at half that make this post look silly, I sure hope so, but some attitude adjustments are needed ... pronto!
I didn't see the game but if that's true, jeesh!
@shankalottapuss that’s enough for me brother! 😂
Part of it was the line calls...but by and large it was the matador offensive line...Ole'
Not to sound like a broken record, but what happen with our running back rotation today? Looked to me like Lee was 1, Lovett 2, and Cain moved back to #3 spot. Not sure if Cain would have done much better with the blocking today, but I didn't hear or read anything about him falling to the #3 spot.
@the-funeral-director Lovett just might be the best RB I’d like to see him start next week. The OL does need to get better but so do the RB’s.
We couldn't run against an FCS team, what the heck is going to happen when we play upper echelon FBS team. Not sure how to fix how the O-line but it was a poor performance.
Seem we praised the Line against Auburn though the run game was average at best. But today it was rather disappointing. I hope there is a big difference between Auburn and Villanova but Auburn did not have an easy time today.
As best I could tell that was the the 'A-Team'

Nah, I think we all said the line looked better in the passing game but still suspect in the running game
Southern - they are not getting better! They keep winning, but they have a long way to go IMO. Clifford has to do a better job passing. He is still throwing high and behind. Yes, made some great throws today, but he missed some that vs Iowa or Ohio State are going to shoot him in the foot! The Oline is the bigger issue. Good grief, they can't move a cow that hasn't eaten for two months! And they need to keep Lovett in the game more than not!!! I think this kid can be very good if they let him get more snaps. He only had 9 yards today on 2 carries, but he hit the holes quick and made things happen that weren't there.
Coming off a big game last week and playing Nova at noon today I expected them to be a little flat. But there is no excuse for the poor running game that was on display today vs a team like Nova. Look, I think Nova had a decent team, but if Penn State is going to beat any of the top 10 teams, they have A LOT OF WORK TO DO ON OFFENSE!
GO STATE!
Just win baby and keep gettin better. You’re not going to play lights out every game plus we could’ve put 50 up if we wanted too.
Getting better? Compared to when?

I don’t remember where I posted it but I did say Lovett from what I see is the best RB he definitely hits the holes quicker and he’s got better vision. I’ve seen enough to see we don’t have any NFL RB’s on this team. We’ve got some good RB’s but just not NLF caliber. Maybe we need to do running plays that work instead of keep running plays that you know don’t work. Stop running inside because it’s not working. I don’t think any team is killing it running inside it ain’t just us that’s struggling running the ball. We won, Iowa’s State, Minnesota, Clemson, A&M and Wisconsin lost and auburn got saved by the refs. These games every week are hard to win regardless who you’re playing. Just win baby and keep on gettin better. My dam Yellow Jackets finally get a good win and yeah NCAR lost 😁🍺. Just keep winning baby! My brothers, we are gettin better, we’ve won 8 straight games.
O'ine: There is a point where you have to look at the recruiting; O'line is big, mean, nasty and smart on the raw side or not. Then throw technique and cognition in into the equation. You can't teach big, mean and nasty and you can coach all you want but if you don't have big, mean and nasty it's probably a losing proposition. Also when I say big, mean and nasty I don't mean dirty arse hole player, I mean a dude who is driven to knock the other dude on his back and when losing that battle can finesse the objective.
Those of us who are close to the program all know that (insert year here) was the year the OL would gel.
I blame Hackenburg.
😂😂😂
I am more than concerned regarding the OLine play and their lack of ability to effectively run block...I want to say that the defensive front they faced yesterday is a very good run defense...So was Auburn...and so was Wisky...I am not in panic mode YET but I am fast approaching that frame of mind...This isn't a RB problem and I believe all of the RB's are more than capable backs...Reviewing the tape from yesterdays ballgame I saw a lot of missed assignments and open gaps that weren't covered that blew up plays...I don't believe it is a lack of talent or ability...I believe it is poor block schemes, poor execution and a lack of want to...These guys miss blocks and it's ho hum...I don't see any emotion or anger cause they blew an assignment...They have lots of work to do and that is an understatement...As for the rest of the team I believe they are playing championship caliber football...I will put this defensive unit against anybody in the country and this is the most balanced football team in the country...They have a stout defense and an explosive offense with a veteran QB who seems to grow with each series...The missing link from this being a sure fire championship team is the OLine and the ability to run the football...If they manage to clean that up and in my opinion they should because the talent is there this is a championship caliber team...

that was funny
Need to recruit big guys that wrestled. Those guys have great body awareness and know how to control their opponents body. Former PSU & NFL great, Dave Szott, was a NJ State Wrestling Champion. I met Szott years ago and he told me nothing prepared him more to be an offensive lineman than wrestling in high school.
