Most of the longtime PSU fans are conservative and are likely  outraged by Nike’s new ad campaign featuring Kapercrap.

Will the fan base bring pressure to bear on the University to end their relationship with Nike?

Most millennials wont give a crap and I know I don’t either. Nike gear is over rated and over priced in the first place. In addition , I didn’t like the way Phil Knight turned on JoPa either.

No one will be talking about it in a week.

The funniest thing I see in the add campaign is how they insinuate he gave up "everything". Seriously? Like, when did playing in the NFL become "everything"???

The dude is worth over $20 million, lives in a nice home, and they are trying to say he gave up everything to twke a stand. Come on, that's a bit much. He had already lost his starting job and everyone knew the 49ers weren't going to keep paying him that contract.

If you want to say he gave up football, I could kinda see that. But gave up everything? Please, we should all be that privileged to give up everything and have $20 mil +

Lets be honest about Kapernick...He was blackballed and as a result he lost out on 10's of millions of dollars...Has he made a lot of money...Yes...How much money did his protest cost him? My guess close to 100 million dollars for the rest of his career...You can agree or disagree with what the man believes but you can't argue the fact that the man put his beliefs where his money is...I can only think of 2 men in my lifetime whose careers were hampered as a result of their beliefs...The first was Ali and the 2nd was a guy named Curt Flood...Every Major League Baseball player should give Curt Flood 1% of his pay check as if it wasn't for him they would still be under the owners thumb...Ali was stripped of his title and lost over 3 years in the prime of his career over his stance regarding the Vietnam war...I am not saying I agree or disagree with what these men have done but there can be no denying the fact that sticking to their beliefs cost them dearly...These guys ain't faking it for publicity sake...

Great, that's the difference between having 80 million or 25 million dollars.

In what world does that equal sacrificing everything? Notice I didn't say he did nothing. I didn't say he is worthless. I said he didn't "sacrificing everything". Saying that is a joke.

In my world 65 million dollars is a lot of money... Being denied the opportunity to compete and earn a living because of your beliefs is a huge sacrifice in my opinion..  History will decide who is right or wrong regarding regarding these stances .. I can't see how anyone can come to any conclusion other than that Kapernick was and is being blackballed from the NFL...

FD, I don't know if was being blackballed or teams not wanting to sign a player whose kneeling protest during our National Anthem alienated so many fans. I just think they didn't want to deal with the backlash of signing him, then fans / reporters discussing the pros & con's of his actions on a daily basis. I truly think there a better options to get his point across, which I wish he would have pursued.

Look, I can't believe I have to explain this again... I did not say that he didn't sacrifice anything, I said he didn't sacrifice "everything". That's just ridiculous. As to what you said:

"In my world 65 million dollars is a lot of money" - Yeah, well in your world you don't already have 25 million. Walking away from 65 million when you've already made 45 million on a contract is a bit different than walking away from 65 million when you have nothing. Are both hard? sure. Is your lifestyle going to change if you already have millions? Probably not.

He also opted out of his contract, he was not fired. He was given a tryout with the Ravens, then his girlfriend decided to post a picture of the Raven's owner that compared the guy to a slave owner. He was offered a contract by the Denver Broncos, and turned it down. He was offered a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks, and turned it down because "he's a starter" and they already have Russell Wilson.

So I also don't fully buy the "blackballed" notion either. Yes, I'm sure there are teams who want nothing to do with him because of the stand he took, but he himself also wanted nothing to do with certain teams by turning down contracts and/or tryouts with them.

All that said, to clarify I don't really mind him taking a knee. It's his right, whatever. He can express himself how he sees fit. What I don't buy is the revisionist history behind the guy. People talk about him like he sacrificed his whole life, everything in the world, and now he's living in squalor. The simple truth is he was a backup to Blane Gabbert when he took a knee. Not a starter. When they put him in, he went something like 1-8. No one was signing him for big money from that, yet everyone is acting like his next big contract was inevitable. He also has a lot of money, a good family, and is now being paid star advertisement money by a shoe company.

Sacrifice? Sure, he put some things on the line. Good for him. Just stop with the "everything" nonsense like he's Jesus nailed to the cross.

NFL teams didn’t sign him because he evolved into an average backup at best and his presence in camp would cause a media frenzy. If he was as good as Tom Brady, he would still be playing professional football.

Here's what I don't get. First, folks overpay for sportswear because it has a swoosh on it. Then they turn around and burn the stuff they overpaid for in some poor excuse of a protest. Now, is this a great country we live in or what?

As far as Kapernik is concerned, he was born with good enough genes to play athletically ay a high level, but that doesn't necessarily mean he was born with enough gray matter to figure out how to make his point without giving up everything to make it. This is true for the majority of the "kneelers."
