I don’t know why but I keep hearing Jim Knowles is a candidate. Kinda seems like a pipe dream to me and Poindexter seems more realistic.

Poindexter is my guess. 

I believe James Franklin keeps a list of coaches he would like to have just in case one jumps ship but one thing we do know is James Franklin has a good track record hiring coaches especially on the defensive side of the ball. He probably already knows who he wants.

I say the choice is simple, AL GOLDEN.

The only problem with picking Poindexter is that he’s an excellent position coach. Golden is coming here to work under JF after being passed over for the head coach job years ago. Knowles and Larry Johnson at OSU reportedly don’t get along so getting one of them may not be as big of a long shot as people think.

If to do with DC, that's damn quick and comes across as the process was in place prior to Allen leaving which may be why no fuss etc over him leaving. Pulling meetings together at that level for such discussion takes some time due to pre-discussions, scheduling and identifying any potential barriers (vetting).

I thought it was going to be D’Anton Lynn but I guess he Haines and Banks are now all off the board. Maybe going after Banda from the Cleveland Browns? Kinda strange how quiet this has been.

That's because it's gonna be Poindexter.  I believe he's a good choice and it will open up a spot for Connor.

@rip The problem with Poindexter is that there’s a very good chance he’ll leave after one year to be the UVA head coach. UVA’s Elliott is already on the hot seat and barring a miracle won’t make it past 2025.

@been-there-ii Maybe JF doesn’t want to replace a coordinator and position coach in the same year?  I’m thinking like Southern and think if Poindexter was the guy they would have announced it by now and am liking the idea of bringing a guy in like Banda who spent years with Manny learning his aggressive defensive philosophy.
