@Lake: the sugar shack is more like a hangout for most of the year. I wont be tapping trees this year but I'll be running the evaporator and a few neighbors will be working my trees and then we'll boil down all the sap from my bush and there bushes in here. It seems like a pretty good deal all around.

eeeerr.....ummmm, no... No, nothing wrong with that. I'm normally a selective harvest kind of guy, but clear cutting patches does improve habitat for some types of wildlife. Makes it tough on beavers until things grow back in a little.
