My apologies if you aren't and I stand corrected if I am wrong...Your responses and the opinions you express gave me the impression that you consider yourself a right wing conservative...I am always open for an honest change of ideas...We are all Americans here Homer...I respect your opinions even though I don't quite understand how you come to some of the conclusions that you do...In my opinion this a big part of the problem...Everybody is so dug in and all everybody does is yell and scream at each other...Believe it or not I am on your side...I am an American who loves my country as much as you do...All I can say is that there is something seriously wrong when a guy making 11 BILLION dollars a year is paying less federal income taxes than a working man making 30k a year...When we are paying more per capita for health care than the #2 and #3 country combined and are receiving like the 28th best health care in the world and pay more than triple for pharmaceuticals than any country in the world...This has been going on for many presidential administrations so my guess is big business, the health care industry and big Pharma are running the country along with military industrial complex...The sad thing is they are all playing the shell game to keep the peasants fighting amongst themselves so they don't have time to watch the kings steal and plunder...Anyway my apologies for all of this...This isn't the forum for this...forgive me but please for all of your sakes get the vaccine and make sure you do whatever you can to convince your friends and loved ones to do the same...

If you get any kind of government assistance you still pay taxes. I don’t know how because it’s way above my head but guys like the Amazon dude find a way to make him pay his fair share in taxes. I’m for giving up the first 10 million in stock or 401k but after you reach 10 million some kind of tax needs to be on that money. Dude got 200 billion sitting there that the US government can’t tax and I think it’s wrong. The US government changes laws every day to take in more money so I ain’t buying they can’t they just been paid off not too. Hey man, are you aware that about 2/3 of the people, or 64% in Florida were not born in the state? They relocated to the state from other places.
That Florida is #2 only to Nevada with the lowest population of natives. That New York has the highest rate of defection and relocation to Florida? Florida is #2 in the US states for native born residents, Nevada is #1 and Arizona is #3.

One other fact for you, 26.1 percent of people residing in Florida are Hispanic, again, people who moved to Florida from other places.

As I said I deal with facts...I am well aware of the fact that most Floridians are not natives and places like Palm Coast, Port St. Lucie, West Palm Beach, New Port Richie etc. are primarily New Yorkers...I lived in Port Orange, FL for nearly 20 years, My parents live in Orange City and my cousin lives in Ormond Beach so I am quite familiar with the State of Florida...I also have a funeral directors license in that state...I believe you are taking my statements wrong navy...I am not attacking any race, color, religion or region of birth as there are plenty of drooling imbeciles from every category you can name...Look at that map and it is quite obvious that the southeast with the exception of Florida (Which by your own admission has a lot of northern transplants) is lagging in vaccine participation. Again it is no secret that the folks getting seriously sick from this virus are the unvaccinated...Are there exceptions? absolutely but the overwhelming number of the ICU and hospitalized covid-19 patients are unvaccinated...I agree with you that these numbers are way too low...I find it absolutely mind boggling that people don't get this vaccination...Facts are Facts...The ICU's here in the northeast are not overflowing like they are in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama etc...It's because if you aren't vaccinated here you are required to mask up and for the most part people do...The sad thing is the kids are back to school down there and you got a bunch of idiots not requiring masks to worn if you're unvaccinated...We will see how that works because I sure as I am sitting here typing some these kids are gonna get sick and die...I just wonder how many of them are going to have to die before people rebel against this stupidity...Anyway Navy I hope you and your family are safe and well...
Now to the flat tax...The flat tax is another scheme by the wealthy to avoid paying taxes...I believe the prevailing belief among many is that 1955 was a pretty good year and that America was rolling along and our economy was doing arguably the best it ever was...I want all of you to go and check out what the tax brackets were back in 1955 and what the tax rates were for the top 1%...I am not going to give the percentage to you as I want you all to look it up yourselves...If those tax rates didn't stifle the economy back in 1955 something tells me the Jeff Bezos's of this country to afford to ante up...
@the-funeral-director Man I hear ya. I have a guy that works for me. His wife is a nurse she got COVID from her job, she was vaccinated and was feeling flu-ish but recovered in a week. Her husband, my employee, refused to get vaccinated and had to be hospitalized and put on oxygen!! WTF??? By the way, he is not a southerner but counting in the stats down here. We’ve had 83 recent cases at work. Of the 83 there were 2 deaths and 8 or 9 serious hospitalizations. The hospitalizations and deaths were all in vaccinated!! I can tell you that there is a renewed sense of urgency amongst a good portion of the ney sayers who were refusing to get vaccinated. It’s sad that it took 2 deaths and hospitalizations of people we know to get them on board! There are a lot of good smart people in the south but, there are still a lot of rural behind the times uneducated people down here. I put a lot of the blame on the politicians who don’t give them the time attention and education they deserve because those people don’t do anything for their political endeavors.

Numbers were high because there were a lot of misguided knuckleheads that didn’t get vaccinated. Even though vaccinated people are sometimes testing positive now, it’s rare that they get bad symptoms or are hospitalized. At our hospital, over the past several weeks, we have had low numbers, thankfully, but 100% of those admitted have been unvaccinated. I’ll say it again. 100% unvaccinated. You just can’t ignore the facts. People choosing to not get vaccinated at this point is just Darwinism. And, trust me, I know people who haven’t gotten it because they are misguided Trump following conspiracy theorists. It’s mind boggling that people can be that gullible in 2021, but here we are. If the majority of the people would have gotten the first round of vaccines when they came out, we most likely wouldn’t still be talking about this. It would be like any other virus we have dealt with in the past. Funny how those who seem to want to scream freedom and no restrictions the loudest are the same people unwilling to do what it takes to get there.
