At PSU his offense had Barkley, a qb who had a hot year, and receivers that could catch. The cheering coach could have had success with that offense
Snake, how bout a 3 year hot QB because it’s not McSorley’s fault the receivers didn’t catch the ball and it’s not McSorley’s fault our RB’S didn’t take care of the ball. Moorhead ain’t overrated if you would just look at his track record because the dude wins everywhere he goes. Bottom line is James Franklin recruited Barkley to help win football games just like he did McSorley.

LMAO, just a coincidence that the year before he came our offense sucked and the year after he left it took a step back.

Nope. I actually met Joe and he is a nice fellow and a good coach. But he ain’t no offensive genius. Without Barkley’s & McSorley’s success, he doesn’t end up as a head coach of an SEC school. Time will tell and I would be happy to be proven wrong. At this time I believe he is the beneficiary of good circumstances.
I agree sky, he did get to coach and learn under James Franklin so that was some great circumstances for any coach to be in. Remember though James Franklin recruited McSorley and Barkley to win football games and he’ll recruit more good football players to help win games.

He didn't have any of those guys at Fordham and turned that team into one of the most potent offenses in FCS.
At UConn he turned their offense from one of the worst in the NCAA to one of the better ones in the FBS. Ultimately the offense carried them to the Fiesta Bowl. Again... AT UCONN.
Dude must be the luckiest guy in football, because everywhere he has gone as HC or OC the offense has gotten better.
Exactly right Roam and he wins! Go ask Meyer and Harbaugh how good Moorhead is 2 coaches that thrive on defense.

Time has already told...
You offered nothing other than "he had Barkley and good receivers at Penn State". However, when presented with the fact that he drastically improved UConn's offense AND drastically improved Fordam's offense in addition to Penn State's... crickets.
That's 3 schools who all got better on offense when he was there. Exactly how many teams does he have to make better until "time has told" he was more than just Barkley. He did it for 6 years elsewhere before he even had Barkley.
Explain why none of what he did previous to PSU seems to matter.
It's also probable that JoMo's coaching talents took advantage of, and actually enhanced, Barkley & McSorley's performance. A good coach knows how to maximize the strengths of available players. I believe he's done that wherever he's coached.

I'm a bit disappointed that neither Mr BT or Mr Lake got the intended meaning of Sky's "Moorhead over rated"comment and Tsuga's "why, did it leave a bad taste in your mouth" response. Or, maybe its because I'm family and I understand how his sick, perverted mind works. LOL. I've been hearing these same jokes and wise cracks for years and years now.
Lol, I just got it lol
Roam took my thunder as I was gonna say everywhere Moorhead has gone he has had success .. .I think there could be a convincing argument made that Moorhead made Barkley and McSorley better..
lol 'Dawg, I knew exactly where he was going with it. But it wasn't mine, so I wasn't gonna touch it.
Difference between JM and other OC coaches is that he understands the defensive side of the ball therefore he sets an offensive scheme to take advantage of the defense with the type of players he has on offense. To say he was good because of the players only is nuts, if that were the case JF is no different. In fact this board has commented in the past how JF blew it several times with superior players because of poor coaching decisions.

Sometimes a good joke is worth a good snicker then it’s back to just complaining about the ever increasing price of coffee at McDonalds and those dam kids on my lawn.
