what’s the chances that James Franklin will get Penn State in a game like this starting the season off? We’ve been in a few kickoff classics and we also kicked a few butts in ‘em. Man wouldn’t it be fun to play Auburn in a game like this.
Yes Southern, it would be great, but I don't think we'll see it happen. IMO, too much risk in starting the season off with a loss in today's CFP environment. That would just give the scam committee another reason to justify keeping you out of the playoffs, LOL!
VT in 2020 & Auburn in 2021 / 2022 are all the the 2nd game of the season, and in 2023/2024 we play West Virginia to start the season.
Those are some good games...
Today is Pittsburgh the same competition as VT and WV or is Pitt better? I’m still struggling to see why we can’t play Pittsburgh every year because Georgia plays Georgia Tech ever year and Clemson plays SCAR every year. I don’t buy we ain’t gettin anything out of it because we do recruit Pittsburgh.
I’m speaking just as a fan that likes competition. I see Pittsburgh as the same competition as SCAR and Ga Tech good football teams but not great.
It is because the Big Ten plays 9 conference games and the SEC and ACC both play 8. That is why the ACC & SEC play cross conference rivalries.
We just started playing 9 conference games a couple of years ago and people has being saying we ain’t getting anything out of it for 15 or 20 years.

I said why it won't happen, not why it didn't happen in the past.
The reason why we don't play Pitt specifically is because no one currently cares. They aren't a rival to anyone who goes to Penn State, just the old school guys. We also out recruit them in every possible way, and it would be helping them to play the game all the time. Why help them out when they did everything in their power in the past to keep us out of their regional sports league.
We're okay playing them from time to time, but setting up a yearly game would almost legitimise them as a rival... so why do it?
I'm an old school guy (old fart) and I don't consider them a rival! I think the rivalry ended when Pitt's program deteriorated to the point where beating them doesn't mean sheet. However, if we lose to them (even with a sanction depleted roster) it helps them claim they are back and lets them toot their horn. Personally, I'd rather renew a rivalry with Syracuse. Anybody remember when they came to town to paint the Lion orange?
Was dick McPherson the coach bob? I’d rather play Pitt but I don’t have the hate for Pitt like some of you guys do I hate the dawgs lol
I'll get the 2nd half

No, the coach I remember was Ben Schwartzwalder. He coached some greats at Syracuse, such as Jimmy Brown and Larry Czonka. I believe Dick McPherson coached in the 1980's and early 1990's.
Well crap Florida won so I’m quite sure they’ll move up to #3. Last night Miami looked like our 2004 team top 5 if they had a QB. Man Miami has some speed. Florida just lined up and brought the house because the Miami QB is in way over his head.
That was one of the sloppiest games i’ve Ever watched! No way Florida should be #8 let alone #3!!!! Plus Miami isn’t even ranked in the top 25 why would they jump to #3?
I was just going on brother I agree with you lol. I figured the FD would get a kick out of that comment lol. Miami had the better team if they had a QB. Miami’s defense look really good with speed everywhere they just can score.
With all the chest pounding, strutting and chirping, you would think that they just played the greatest game in the history of football or discovered a cure fore cancer!
Did anyone notice Fla.'s right guard a former Lion commit
LOL Southern .. You know I wouldn't be surprised... They are already yodeling about putting Georgia and Bama in the playoff... Now they got an ACC channel... Look out now. .. They are gonna push for 3 SEC teams and 1 ACC team... The Pac 12, B1G and Big 12 ain't gonna have a chance as they control the whole thing... They have to discredit the competition .. It's sickening and a farce. .
I've already seen the talking heads on ESPN prop up how good Miami looked, how surprised they are at the offence and how fast the D looked. All smoke and mirrors to hide that both teams looked like complete crap on Saturday night.
For all of you talking about them propping up the SEC in the ACC, most ESPN analysts have Michigan in the playoff.
ESPN dream top 4 CFP teams
#1 Alabama baby
#2 Clemson
#3 Georgia
#4 ND
lol
Let the games begin! Once things start to play out on the field you'll really see the talking heads scramble to put their spin on the chosen teams. You can almost hear Ralph Kramden....humaduh, humaduh, humaduh.

Stupid dream, as the TV ratings would be terrible. No one outside of those fanbases would give a damn. The wider audience wants new blood, not the same teams over and over. That's why the ratings have stunk the past two years.
It's what ESPN wants... They are in bed with the SEC and ACC conferences as they are business partners with them... Only a naive and delusional fool would think that when push comes to shove that ESPN who owns the rights to this thing won't be using its influence to promote teams from those 2 conferences over the other 3 power conferences.... It's in their best interest from a business standpoint to promote the "superiority of the SEC and ACC conferences.... Let the hype and propoganda begin... It's a disgusting farce...
