I'm a firm believer of not planting anything until memorial day weekend, mid May minimum. About the same time farmers plant.

We buy the small bonnie plants at the farmers market. We thought about bringing up our own plants indoors. We or I should say she has bags of seeds. You know how that goes. Say, say but never do. This year we will rotate our plants. Tomato plants will be in different locations this year, vice versa.
About not being able to walk in your garden. We have one area where water accumulates when it rains consistently. All the water from the bank accumulates. We have a small swale that we cut into the low spots to allow the water to drain off and leach away into the swale. It was a real pain in the ass, but it works. I cut a few inches down and increased the slope so the water doesn't lay there. Basically faster drainage. Much better than what it was. Used a story pole and laser level to gradually get more slope. We have a pretty good soil for percolation rate which really helps. What other projects do you have going on? We are doing some front of house landscaping. What we have is ok but needs improvement. It doesn't look natural. Have some big boulders, plant a few trees.
@jimmypsuelectriciangrad haha I hear ya w/ the seed saving. I have a bunch, some get planted, some are "next year" plantings, that don't happen. I do plant saved heirloom tomatoes and peppers. Apparently I'm the source for our family heirloom pole bean seed. Original seeds came over on das Boot w/ my Great Grandfather. Wish I knew how long before that they were in the family. Too late to ask anyone now, if anyone besides my great grandfather knew or if he even knew.
I've got real nice sandy load for the garden. Yep, east end goes underwater occasionally. No place to drain it away, just have to wait for it to soak in. PITA when I want to plant the early veggies, but since the water table is so high, I never have to water anything, other than transplants when I 1st put them in.
Usual springtime chores here. Fruit trees are pruned, most of the landscape too. Still waiting on a few bushes to bud swell, so I can trim back the winter kill wood. Should get to working on firewood. Not really too worried about that though, looking like I'll be burning ash this winter. It's all ready dead from EAB, so should dry down quickly. In my free time I'm working on putting the trim work in the new house. Need to get the bathroom(s) trim done, so I can install the vanities, then the plumber can come back and finish the plumbing.
The projects never end.

I believe Caven gives us a lot of freedom on here as long as we don’t get stupid and I’m as guilty as anybody about talking politics but he did say no politics and he trust us to follow the rules. Why don’t we all agree on here who we want as a moderator and whatever he says, goes. I believe 81 will be the best man for the job he’s on here a lot or I see his name anyway and I believe we can all agree 81 would be fair. I think there's a lot of blame to go around, myself included. While not starting any threads that I'm aware of, I certainly have responded to quite a few political posts. Without a moderator, things often get out of hand when posters see others talking about topics that aren't allowed. It happens, just one of those things to deal with on the internet I guess.@psujoe I guess it's OK for you to post gas prices on the water cooler forum and to thank the occupant of white house for them. But I guess that's not political.
