The 1994 Penn State/OSU game.  Wow, what a team that was.  I'm told I was at the game but i certainly dont remember.  I still dont understand how they didnt at least earn a share of the N/C that year.  Kijana was an absolute beast but Ingrahm and Freddie Scott deserve their props too.......what a WR duo. Kyle Brady was a beast too.  Im grateful that You Tube allows us to go back in time and see greatness once again.

Rose Bowl. They were a holdout to the Bowl Coalition, so we were obligated to play Oregon in the game. Had the Rose Bowl joined the Bowl Coalition (later became the Bowl Alliance), we would have played Nebraska in 1994 and Michigan would have played Nebraska in 1997.

The Michigan / Nebraska split in 1997 lead to the Rose breaking down and finally joining... which became the BCS.

it was rigged then just like it is now brother it’s as simple.  We all know it’s so simple to get a real NC but these crooks pulling the strings won’t ever let that power go because some team like UCF might slip up and get in and win. Games are not fixed but who gets in the playoffs is just like it was with the bcs and all the other garbage before that. Like they’d really let Condoleeza Rice have a say lol man that’s really funny lol

Roam they shared it with Michigan because Michigan just like Nebraska was one of their teams that always got favoritism. Had Ohio st or Michigan gone undefeated in 94 you can bet your butt they would’ve got a share of the NC just like it did in 97.

Yes, you were there but you werent at the game.  You stayed with your mother, grandmother and two aunts in the RV while your father, 2 uncles, and I went into the stadium. Lots of great memories from that team that year.

Bob Costas declared Nebraska the natl champs BEFORE we even played our game.  A couple late TD's by Indiana knocked us out of 1st place in the rankings.  We were screwed harder and faster than Stormy Daniels at a Makita convention.

Oh for pete's sake. Yeah, Michigan always got favoritism... that's why 1997 was their only NC since 1948.

Seriously, stop using favoritism every damn time someone you don't like wins a NC. If Michigan were favorites of the NCAA they would have more than 1 damn national title in the last 70 years

I don’t like Clemson, Auburn, Washington, Miami, Florida st, Florida or Tennessee either and I’ve never said any of these teams get favoritism. The reason Michigan didn’t win a NC in all the years since 1948 is because they got their butts handed to ‘em either by Ohio st, ND or a PAC 10 team in the rose bowl. Show me a year they were undefeated since 1948 and they didn’t win the NC and show me a year when Ohio st went undefeated and didn’t win the NC? Like I said just look at the facts, when Ohio st, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas, usc, Oklahoma, NDare undefeated you’ll see they never got the shaft and it dang sure didn’t happen 4 freaking times.

The National championship ain’t nothing but a popularity contest the best teams and coaches are whoever wins the most games and especially the most bowl games because it was done on the field and ain’t got nobody’s opinion in it.

As bad as it is, at least we don't have some guy in the White House, with no knowledge of CFB, pronouncing the NC before the bowl games are played.

Just goes to show how rigged it is navyjag. The voters listened to Richard Nixon back in 69 just like the scam CFP committee listened to Jim Delany in 2016 while Ohio st was sitting home watching 2 teams fight it out on the field for the big 10 championship plus one of the 2 teams beat Ohio st on the field causing them to sit home and watch lol. They said we don’t care that penn st beat Ohio st on the field and we don’t care penn st won the big 10 we still believe Ohio st is better lol

In 1969 Richard Nixon declared Texas national champions over Penn State. Apparently he knew more about college football than Watergate.

Undefeated no national championship:

1. ND 1953, 1941
2. Michigan 1973
3. Ohio State 1973, 1961
4. USC 1979, 1969
5. Oklahoma 1949, 1954, 1973

All those teams were undefeated and did not win the National Title. Some had 1 tie, some did not. Some of the ones with a tie were ranked behind a team with a loss, so that's still getting the shaft... as you say.

Your statement isn't backed up by fact. Most often when those schools won a NC, they played a high ranked team in the bowl game. Let's look at the years PSU got shafted:

1968: We played Kansas in our bowl game, Ohio State played USC. OSU beat #1, #2, #4, & #16 that year, we played no ranked teams in the regular season.

1969: We played NC State and Mizzou in our last two games... Texas played #2 Arkansas and #6 Notre Dame. Texas also played and beat #8 and #20. We played one ranked team in the regular season: West Virginia

1973: We played 2 loss LSU in our bowl game, Notre Dame beat #1 Alabama in theirs. We only played one ranked team in the regular season, ND played 3.

1994: We played 3 loss Oregon while Nebraska played #3 Miami. Again, our bowl game screws us. Had the Rose Bowl joined the alliance we would have played Nebraska.

So here it is... EVERY SINGLE TIME WE WENT UNDEFEATED, we played a fairly sh**ty opponent in our bowl game while whomever won the NC played a top team. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Michigan in 1997 benefited from Washington State being a 1 loss team, but even then they lost their #1 ranking in the coaches poll because Nebraska got to play #3 UT. WINNING AGAINST A BIG TIME OPPONENT IN A BOWL GAME IS IMPORTANT.

I'm telling you, it's not favoritism... it's crap bowl games that did us in. We didn't go to the big bowl games, period. Kansas and Missouri were decent, but come on... Who is gonna vote PSU #1 in those year when we played next to nobody during the year? Grand total of 1 ranked team between those 2 regular seasons while OSU and Texas were playing #2, #3, #6, #8... It just wasn't gonna happen, not unless we played someone big time in the bowl game... WHICH WE DID NOT.

We actually had a choice to go to the Orange Bowl or Cotton Bowl in 1969. We chose the Orange Bowl... had we chose the Cotton Bowl we would have played Texas. Joe wanted to go to the Cotton Bowl, but left the decision up to the team. Many players from that team regretted the decision to go to Miami...

Just an FYI, kinda makes it hard to say we really got shafted that year since we decided not to play the winner of the #2 Arkansas / #1 Texas game

Every one of ‘em had a tie except 1954 Oklahoma team. If you tie it’s like a loss if another team is undefeated. We had 4 undefeated perfect seasons and got the shaft. When you have a tie you didn’t win all your games and you seen how they just GIVE Colorado a share of the NC when everybody know they had a loss and a tie when the Jackets just had a tie plus they give Colorado 5 downs to win another game or they would’ve had 2 losses. In 1994 they liked Tom better than joe it’s that simple. If these people will fix who wins in 1990 they’ll do it in 1994 plus I’ll put joe’s bowl win up against anybody’s matter of fact his bowl games were probably harder than what most teams were.

1. Say what you mean. Ties were common back then so say no ties if you mean no ties, not undefeated. I also stated some of those teams tied and still finished behind a team with a loss.

2. No mention of us choosing not to play Texas in 1969? Sorry, but if your team decides to play someone else rather than the winner of a #1 v #2 game, then you don't deserve the NC. PSU had a chance to play for it, and decided to go to Miami. That's not getting shafted, that's YOUR OWN TEAM choosing an easier game.

3. In 1968 we didn't play one ranked team in the entire regular season. We didn't get shafted, our schedule was a joke.

4. Why is Colorado now being brought up? Who mentioned Colorado until now?

5. If the Rose Bowl joined the Bowl Alliance in 1994, we would have played Nebraska. Why can't you get this through your head? Simple, we would have played for the NC in 1994 if the Rose had simply said yes.

6. In 1973 we played a two loss LSU team that finished behind Alabama in the SEC. Notre Dame beat Alabama, who was ranked #1. In what world would anyone chose Penn State to be #1 in that scenario? Both Bama and ND played and beat more ranked teams that year too... Face it, from 1968 - 1973 OUR SCHEDULE SUCKED. Sorry, but the truth is the truth... we were not playing competitive teams consistently during those years. That's why we didn't get the #1 ranking.

7. 1994 we got shafted, BY THE ROSE BOWL. Not only did they not let us play Nebraska, they gave us a crappy Oregon team to play. We needed to dominate them in the game, and we didn't. Nebraska beat highly ranked Miami and held onto their #1 ranking

8. Difference between 1994 & 1997 was Michigan was ranked #1 going into the bowl game. We were #2 behind Nebraska. Only way for us to pass them was to dominate a sh*tty Pac-12 Champion... and we didn't. Michigan also did not dominate their PAc-12 Champ and lost the #1 ranking because of it. The NCAA doesn't love Nebraska any more than Michigan

9. I must say I find this funny... You more than any poster here constantly says "prove it on the field", yet still say we were shafted in 1969. Our team chose not to play Texas or Arkansas... THEY HAD THE CHANCE TO PROVE IT ON THE FIELD BUT INSTEAD CHOSE TO PLAY MISSOURI. At that point we weren't shafted, we made a choice not to earn it.

We kicked Oregon’s butt in that game. I’m bringing Colorado up because I’m showing you they’ll do what they wa t when they want just like they did in 2016. These crooks pulling the strings have always done what they want. How hard is it to come up with a true playoff unless you are trying to control something? It ain’t hard Roam

38-20 over a 2 loss team outside of the top 10 won't get it done. First time I've heard a game 14-7 at half, and 28-14 after three referred to as a butt kicking.

Simple fact that you can't run away from is the same people you say are a scam and would do anything to deny us a NC, are the very same people who wanted the Rose Bowl to allow us to play Nebraska for the title. You just plain can't explain that away Southern, no matter how much you want to. Rose Bowl plays ball, we play Nebraska. They didn't, we were left out.

Everything else is BS conjecture. There's only one fact, and it's this: The Rose Bowl could have let us play Nebraska, but they didn't. The End.
