Why did they NOT kick a FG on the 20 when there was still 4 minutes to go? I had flashbacks of the Indiana game! And this QB running thing has to stop! And JF needs to learn how to call a complete game! Waiting until halftime to make adjustments is just ridiculous. Yes, you can beat the bad teams doing that, but you ain't going to beat the good teams!
And where is the tackling? This is not flag football! And late hits out of bounds? Bench them!!!
I am completely convinced there is some great talent coming up and Penn State will be back post COVID! But the play calling on both sides of the ball is still mind boggling to me. They gave up 21 points in the 2nd quarter. Now I am going to watch the game again, but they didn't pressure the QB at all. They did in the 1st, 3rd and 4th and presto! What happen in the second?
Got to give the TEAM credit for stepping up and keeping focused on getting better. Hopefully they get another game in next week and with a win, maybe a bowl game. I hope they don't opt out like some other teams are doing. I am not sure if I agree with that at all. To start out 0-5 and end 5-0 would be such a momentum change heading into 2021. Heck, going 3-0 is almost erasing my bad memories of the first 5 games!

I'm glad you brought up the decision not to kick a field goal...totally perplexing. Then MSU marched down the field like a hot knife through butter. Had they scored an onside kick would have been forthcoming and its Indiana all over again.
Lake - I know this is not a normal football season, but dang I just can't figure out what the coaches are doing. They have three good running backs that need experience and the QB's are doing all of the running. They have a NFL caliber WR and Fr WR (that is turning on) and very few passes down field. All of the running plays are.....well, if you seen one you seen them all.
Just not digging what they are doing on offense right now.
Looks a lot like HS football at a bottom tier level when the QB is the best player and there are only four play calls; QB run up the middle, off L tackle, off right tackle, scramble and try to make something happen. Never mind some kid who can really play riding the pine trying to figure it all out.
I’d like to see the wildcat as well but I’m thinking the coaches just want to win and try and get back to 5-5 and carry some momentum over into next year plus we haven’t been turning the ball over. What they’re doing is working it’s just ugly watching it but as ole southern says..just win! Ugly wins are so much better than losses. This is football when you have a QB that doesn’t take care of the ball.
I like the way our FB (Levis) runs. Still waiting for the cross up long ball call off that play that our OC has been setting up for ever, lol.
Yes nervous. I went from 'this game is over at half' to 'maybe I was wrong', to 'what changed, why didn't we do it in the first half'.
I was 50/50 on kicking the FG. Honesty our fieldgoal kicking has been susepect. It has lost us a game or two.
In retrospect EVERYTHING went right for MSU Offense in the second quarter. Passes were thrown perfectly and receivers improbably caught everything. Granted we were getting no pressure for some reason. In the 3rd quarter, for some reason, we got pressure and our coverage was better. I don't get it.
Our offense was boring and predictable but that is where we are with rookie RB's, TE, and 2nd receiver.
Hey we did see our backup throw a completion...and it was exciting 😥
Predictable as a Levis running up the middle.
Trust me Lake, we're setting up the long bomb off that play! Well, maybe next year.......
I was nervous as well, for all the reasons mentioned. Take the FG.
Let's be honest here. What they are doing DIDN'T work 5 times....only 3 times and against terrible teams. Playing "scared" and trying to get to .500 isn't carrying a whole lot over to 2021. This season is a sh*t show for everyone and what a better time to play all of your potential stars that would normally be warming the benches.
Up next Illinois. This is the game for JF to cut everyone loose and play some REAL Penn State football! They should be able to win this game by 30 points (and then some ) with ALL of the talent they have. PSU61 is correct! They need to open up the play book and stop all of this nonsense with the two QB's. They have enough play makers on offense (now) that they should be able to blow Illinois right out of Beaver Stadium this Saturday. A dominating win over Illinois may even get them a better looking bowl game against a ranked team.
GO STATE!!
@mtnittanylion. You can’t open the offense up when your QB turns the ball over we seen that in the first 5 games. I’m telling ya they’d love to open up the offense but unless you want to lose it’s not a good thing to do. Clifford is a turnover machine and that ties the OC hands. We’re doing everything possible to win and we’ve won 3 straight games hopefully 4 after this coming up week and we’ll get to a bowl game and hopefully can salvage a 500 season which would be great coaching. I’m starting to like what I see with the OC he’s winning games with one hand tied behind his back so just think of how good we’ll be when he gets his QB in here. We’re back to winning just keep doing what we are doing. Never stop doing something that’s working.
Clifford is just like Matt Ryan, plays hard and tries his best but turns the ball over and it beats ya. Matt Ryan did it again yesterday 😡

Just keep running our designated FB up the middle on 3rd and short! Keep setting up for the long bomb....maybe next year, or not, LOL.
Maybe time for a new QB????? Or is this what we can expect to see until Clifford (and Levis) Graduate?
This is a free year. Don't kid yourself, if this continues into the 2021 season the $$$ donors will have a lot to say about what plays they call and who the QB is.....AND COACHES ARE.
IF Dotson returns next year - and I am hearing he is - they have a squad that can score points, lots of points and quickly. It will come down to the QB play. They keep running the QB and not engaging these play makers ( and yes, I am now calling this offense a group of young play makers) it will be another frustrating season. I know this is not a fair comparison, but if Trask, Jones or Lawrence was the QB TODAY at Penn State, they WOULD beat Ohio State this weekend if they played again! I think this is how far this Offense has come in the past three weeks....and how bad Ohio State's secondary is.

Hopefully we’ll have a good QB transfer in which I think will happen. The Georgia backup would be a good one his name is Binnett. Trust me brother I’m all about Winn ing

Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer will enter the transfer portal after four years as starting quarterback with the Bears. The senior ranks among the best QBs in Baylor history.

I saw that yesterday on ESPN. Still reporting yesterday's news today??

Not only did Baylor QB Charlie Brewer enter the portal today but so did one of your Yellow Jackets, freshman dual threat QB Tucker Gleason out of Tampa.

My choice of those two is unquestionably Charlie Brewer. He'll be a VERY experienced 5th year senior who could play immediately due to being a graduate transfer. He's also the type of QB Ciarrocca likes.
Only issue would be if he's willing to leave Texas, or even the South for that matter as he's from Austin.
