I'm not debating what you overheard, I just haven't seen or heard of any of that talk anywhere else. I must admit, I read the enemy boards all the time because I'm a college football junkie and love recruiting. I have seen nothing outside of the widely publicized issues at OSU regarding coaching or violations. I would venture to say most coaches that get an ear will attempt to throw a bit of doubt out there about a rival that is trying to sign a top talent.
I wasn't "overhearing" it was a discussion with people I respect...and have some insight.....
It will be interesting if some sort of sanctions do come down.
Will it be a drop in scholarships or postseason ban for lack of instatutional control..
Will they let it be open season on OSU players? Will we see players jump to transfer portal?
The doctor killed his self so we can assume he did something wrong I just don’t think it was 177 young men. I still need more info because right now I’m not buying it.
The investigation found documented complaints just about EVERY YEAR from 1979 to when he was removed from his position in 1996: "Despite the persistence, seriousness, and regularity of such complaints, no meaningful action was taken by the University to investigate or address the concerns until January 1996"
I mean, dude... what do they need to spell it out for you? What more do they have to show that this guy routinely molested or otherwise violated athletes on campus for 20 years? 1 report, fine. 2 reports, maybe. 3 reports? Uh Oh... Literally officially documented reports every year spanning three decades? What more could you possibly want?
Ain’t nobody talking about it on any news or sports news stations. We talk about it here and that’s about it. If it was as bad as you say Roam it would be all over the news or maybe I’m just missing it being reported. Is the whole country just ignoring it? The Michigan State crap that happened was all over the news. I do believe he violated some athletes but how many in don’t know and don’t know yet what to believe because there is no coverage.

Then go find out for yourself, like I did. I read some articles and skimmed through the actual report. Unlike the Freeh report, it details actual correspondence and official complaints that were made by multiple athletes over 20 years.
You talk about ESPN and media bias a lot Southern, so don't be fooled here... Media bias isn't only about what they cover, but what they choose to ignore.
Nitnation, did they do anything to Michigan State?
At this point no... Is it over?
If it is maybe lawsuits needs to be filed...

Your absolutely right about media bias (ESPN, et al) I'd also throw in the hypocrites at the NCAA & B1G. They are more than happy to ignore anything when one of their favored institutions are involved. I still firmly believe that everybody piled on PSU because of Joepa. He simply stepped on too many self-important shoes and they saw the Sandusky mess as their long awaited chance to get even. Kinda like what they did to Jerry Tarkanian at UNLV. Only difference is PSU ran a clean program, UNLV, not so much, LOL.
Well, if it was wrong.....and it was.....to punish JoePA and the PSU football program, then it would be wrong to punish the MSU and OSU programs. The universities should be held accountable and liable for damages, but there really is no case to punish current players, coaches or the current football program. I think the reason Joe was treated so badly was because it happened while he was there and he was still coaching when it all came out. If John Cooper or Woody Hayes was still at OSU they would be in the spotlight as well.

With all due respect, you're entitled to your opinion, as we all are. I won't get into rehashing an issue that's been beaten to death more than once. A hatchet job is a hatchet job and special treatment for certain institutions is very obvious.

Completely different... At PSU the police and child services were brought in and actually cleared or dropped the case against Sandusky in 1998. In 2001 Joe reported what he was told to his superiors and, at that point, it is not a football issue. Worst case scenario at Penn State is the school's administration failed to adequately follow up on a report that was brought to their attention, having knowledge that an investigation in 1998 was dropped by authorities they may have thought it was nothing.
At OSU, their are detailed reports that complaints were filed on a repeated and ongoing basis... being squashed by the athletic department and never raised up higher for investigation until 1996. So for over 20 years and spanning 3 different decades, OSU's Athletics Department of Student Health never once elevated a complaint about the guy. THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT. Admins knew. Coaches knew. Athletes even knew, and also knew "not to make trouble".
To say those situations are comparable is laughable at best. In one case the man in question wasn't even a coach anymore, he was using PSU facilities. In the other case, the athletic department is documented to have stopped any complaints of molestation from being reported to higher authorities... for 20 years.
One last point on this and I'll let it go. I mentioned the big difference at PSU was Joe was still coaching at the time it all came out. I will also include that most people will look at these situations completely differently for the simple fact that young children were involved at PSU. That alone causes mob mentality. I'm not justifying one over the other, both terrible situations that we all hope never happen again, but once young children are involved it takes a different turn.

"young children were involved at PSU"
You mean a former PSU coach was convicted of molesting young children. Unfortunately people don't seem to know the difference between a former coach doing terrible things on campus, and the athletics department actively suppressing the complaints of his victims.
James Franklin has come through on recruiting every year and this year ain’t going to be any different. He loses a few but wins a lot that happens to all good coaches in recruiting. Thanks for all the news guys I don’t get much recruiting news on penn st down here in Atlanta.
Absolutely Southern! The early bird always gets the worm.
But the second mouse gets the cheese.
Bill, is there any merit to "rumors" that the kids that recently reopened their recruitment did so because they were subjected to some sort of drug activity while on a visit? I have read on TOS that this was something that was an issue especially with the kids from Maryland. It is so hard to know what is real and what is smoke and mirrors in the recruiting game, thought you may know something since you are able to get so close to the action.
I don't know either, I don't pay and was asking Bill if anything has been said. I only heard rumors about this, if I knew anything I would let everyone here know.

OK. I'm confused. Earlier you said you "read on TOS" and now you're telling Mr Lake that you dont pay for TOS. Which is it??
Bulldawgs, Ole snake strikes again baby lol
Hello Sir!! Hope things are going well for you in GA. I'm thinking that snake was before my time on here. Who exactly is he?? Or, what exactly is he??
Bulldawgs, Ole snake strikes again baby lol
I believe you hit the nail on the head Southern!
Forum Titan, Pipe and Bulldawgs, you took his nickname Bulldawgs. Snake oil was one of his nicks way back probably after he give up on Indiana Jones lol. You’re the PA kid brother that name suits you lol. I’m not so sure T-Rex wasn’t the snake but your grandpa said it wasn’t so I’ll trust his judgment lol. Things are great down here buddy it’s a beautiful day.
take it for what it's worth. On Rivals there is a poster named nevadabuck that posted in a premium thread that some recent recruits were turned off by "drug activity" on their visit to PSU. I did not read the thread, but others that could summarized the thread and referenced it in other threads. That's all I have and was asking if Bill had any other insight since he is close to the program. If someone can't come to an anonymous football forum and post what they hear about football without being called a snake something is wrong.

I took Bulldawgs as my nic when Pipe was making fun of vets. I dont remember what particular incident it was other than he was saying some nasty stuff about my G-dad's buddy Wolfy. I just remember doing it and p*ssing Pipe off to no end. T-Rex was before my time. My great uncle is a die-hard UGA fan. He lives down your way in Lawrenceville or something like that. He took me to a few UGA games it and it really upset gramps to the point that they didnt speak for a few months. In fact, during football season there is a lot of tension between the two and sometimes it gets pretty ugly.

I'm sure that's all it was. I just found it peculiar that you mentioned you read it and then told Lake that "you don't know, you don't pay either". Could you please provide links to the alleged drug use incident so we all can read it and form an opinion??
haven't heard that here at all....someone trying to be important by guessing why recruits left...it's dumb really, there's drug use on every campus.
