The last 15 minutes boring out the Kid's rectal discharge tube for taking the bait and engaging in anything that our own personal village idiot has to post on here.  I've told that boy a hundred times that if we stop feeding into him, he'll go away.  But I have to admit it is kinda fun watching old Pipe make an a$$ out of himself on a daily basis.

And for the record, I'm not upset about not getting a deer yet.  I mean after all; I hunted in Idaho and didnt get an elk, hunted in Maine and havent got a deer. I'll be heading down to PA to see if I can make it a trifecta......three states and no backstrap.  Ok, so maybe I am a bit bitter.

He left me with a little a$$ left.  Sure hope he gets a deer in PA Roam, I gotta drive his surly butt from Maine to PA and back.  It could be a long drive if he comes up empty handed.  I'll just slip the old fart some benydryl so he sleeps the whole way down and back.  Seriously though, he only has so many more hunts left in him and I'll cherish this time I get to spend with him!!

Usually around North east Pennsylvania this time of the year the highways look like a butcher shop from vehicles hitting them.  Last year being the worst.  For some odd reason it's not like that this year. Other stories I've heard is many deer found in the middle of the woods with no wounds. No arrows, no holes, no evidence of being hit by a vehicle. Strange year with many questions.

If it makes ya feel any better, I've been out 3 times and have only seen 5 deer, passed up a 4 pt yesterday. lol But as soon as shooting hours are over, there are 18 munching through the corn stubble out back.

Good luck!

Keep at at. My son and I've been at for 3 days. Had the opportunity to take several 8s but as he said, ain't nothing hanging worth taking dad. LOL. I'm about to the point of being fine with in the crosshairs and knowing that I've done it before. I had an 8 meandering in the crosshairs for 5 minutes last evening with me thinking, boy you don't know how lucky you are. On another note, its just not right with temps in 60-70s during firearms season.

That's a nice amount for one season. They must have very good food sources, corn fed . The land I hunt on is ok but I've seen better years. New industrial developments near by has made it more  difficult.

It was definitely a better year than we ever had when I was a hunter. Logan Mills area does have plenty of farms, is a mix of farms and gameland.

My home is surrounded by corn fields.  There is an eight pointer running around. Beautiful rack.

@been-there-ii: We hunted ALL day yesterday in the driving rain and wind.  Let me clarify, I hunted all day in the driving wind and rain while he sat in his elevated stand warm and dry.  We built him a stand a few years back by sinking 6x6 posts in the ground.  He made the posts out of Ironwood so they'd last several years.  Anyway, I named the stand the Taj Mahal cause it has a propane heater, a small stove to heat his food, he even rigged up a urinal so he didnt have to go outside to brave the elements.  We installed sliding windows and swivel seats for him too.  Anyway, he sat in that all day while my Dad and I put on mini drives for him.  He did invite us in for some hot cider and a fried egg sandwich.  I'm telling ya, you could have four guys sit in there comfortably and play poker all day.

@sky: congrats!!  Looking forward to getting down to PA to hunt deer.  I just learned that up here in Maine the deer density is 1.6/square mile. I'll see more deer in a 1/2 day of hunting in PA then what I would hunting all season up here where grandfather lives.  Only difference is, the deer up here tend to be heavier weight wise.

@thepakid What? No mulling spice in the cider? That's gratitude for ya! But, HEY!, at least he fried the egg. He coulda said, "Stove's over there." Ya know, I was thinking just the other day, I need a little more to slow down the wind that blows up my back, than a few beech branches. Maybe he's on to something,  'cause I'm not so sure the deer can't see me through my blind anyway.

This morning my kid saw a 6 pt, couldn't get a clear shot. My neighbor saw the same, I'm guessing, 4 pt I saw the other day, he passed on it too. (I'm sure it'll look way bigger by the end of season) Me, I get to see two scrawny doe and a irate coon...too close to it's den apparently. I've only heard them growl and snarl. This one was chattering at me. Kinda reminded me of my ex, I was always in some kind of trouble, even when I was just trying to mind my own business.
