They better be careful, because if Alabama pulls away and makes this a blow out I think the committee would put Notre Dame in.
Hard to justify putting in a Georgia team that just got absolutely annihilated in their championship, but a lot easier to do so if they lose by 3.
Is what it is, I hate this system. 8 or 12 now please
I don't see how you justify putting 2 teams in from any conference...especially from a conference who played such a weak out of conference schedule and when they did go out of conference got beat most of the time...NO legitimate playoff should have 2 teams from the same conference out of 4 teams...NEVER...
IMO, GA is in win, lose or draw regardless of how much on either end.
But it would be interesting to see ND get and win it all at this point, lol.
Of course they are...ESPN demands it...They have been pushing this narrative for weeks...Georgia has no business in the CFP if they lose this game...This is why the whole thing is a farce...
Why would the people on the committee (who are getting paid the same regardless of who gets into the CFP) care about what ESPN wants?
Unless you think they're getting paid under-the-table I guess.
You are a very naive person if you don't think that the entity that is paying the freight for this and who has business interests in 2 conferences with their network doesn't have something to say in who is in or out then there is nothing left for me to say...LOL...What reason do you think there is for not having a 16 team playoff in the top division as there is in all the other divisions in college football? Why can a D3, D2 and every other division other than the top division determine their national champion with a 16 team playoff but yet the largest programs with the biggest budgets can't? ESPN is protecting their investment...It's the same garbage every year and I reached a point a few years back where I wasn't going to watch this crap anymore...Until they open the playoff and put in different teams and more teams instead of the fix for the same 4 or 5 teams I am gonna call this what it is...A beauty pageant...Not competition...The SEC is the 4th ranked conference in my opinion based on their out of conference games...To argue that 2 teams from this conference deserve to be in a 4 team playoff is a joke...It's an insult to the other conferences...
IMO:
1. AL
2. GA
3. Mich
4. Cinn
Of course if Mich loses, just move Cinn to #3 and ND to #4.

So you are saying that experts in college football that are not employed by ESPN, who only serve on the CFP committee passed a certain date, care about what ESPN thinks?
And again, who the hell is arguing That the SEC deserves 2 teams other than people on TV? Why do you keep insinuating that I want to see it, I've stated multiple times I'd rather Notre Dame be in than Georgia.
#1 Alabama
#2 Michigan
#3 Georgia
#4 Cincinnati or Baylor
Ole southern gone out on I limb and predict that the Georgia Shitdawgs will win the NC? Did Kirby cry yet? Lol
You just made my point..."And again, who the hell is arguing That the SEC deserves 2 teams other than people on TV?" Of course they are pushing the company line...And Yes!!! You are very naive if you don't think those "experts" aren't being told what they are to do and why...They are puppets...I told all of you months ago they were gonna put Georgia and Bama in no matter what...You have 4 slots and you stack half the playoff from one conference who has a less than stellar out of conference record...You have 5 conference champs...Cincy and a 1 loss Notre Dame and you are going to exclude one of those teams for a team that just got their rear ends kicked in a conference championship game? Based on what? Bama is gonna represent the SEC...Cincy the non power 5...If Michigan wins they deserve to be in...Now you choose between Notre Dame, Baylor and Utah as far as I am concerned and right now I think Utah is playing the best football but I think you put Notre Dame in...ESPN runs this show and they are in business with the SEC and ACC so guess who is always going to get in...It's obvious to see what is going on and why...This thing is a sham...

Oh please, yes someone who's been running a football program for 20-40 years that has no ties to ESPN is somehow going to let ESPN tell them what to do? Yeah OK... they could care less about ESPN and how much money they make. This is exactly why they fill the committee with new people every few years, So none of them has any incentive to let anyone else tell them what to do.
Most of the people on the committee are at the tail ends of their careers anyway, there is no reason why they would give a flying you know what about what ESPN thinks. You would have me believe that someone who spent 40 years in football is somehow gonna Just count now to ESPN because they want they want Georgia in the playoffs and not someone else?
Some people just want to see conspiracies everywhere
That is where you are wrong...Always follow the money and who is paying...ESPN is controlling the narrative and they are going to ensure who they want in is in...They didn't pay billions of dollars for nothing...If you think otherwise you are very foolish and naive...

They paid for TV rights and to make money, I'm pretty sure they didn't pay to tell the committee what to do.
And the funny thing is you say follow the money, but the TV money goes down when the same teams keep playing over and over again. Soooo... If you follow the money, and the money is generated by how many people watch the games...
Why exactly would ESPN want less people to watch the games? Because that's absolutely what happens when the same teams keep playing over and over again. The TV ratings go down
ESPN is in business with the SEC conference and the ACC conference so they make MORE money when they can promote those conferences in the CFP and market them as the premier conferences every year...That way when it comes to college football they can steer people to their SEC network...They want to continue to promote the illusion that their conferences are better than the others so they can market their networks...That is why whenever they decide to have these "expansion meetings" part of the negotiations is to break up ESPN's monopoly on this thing...That is why I don't believe you will see any sort of expansion until ESPN's contract is up...

"Illusion"
You know what would be nice? If the other conferences could maybe win more than rare occasions against the SEC in the BCS, CFP, or other big games? That might break the illusion.

@roaminglion exactly right Roam! You just hit it on the head. Michigan and probably Cincinnati will get a chance and let’s see what happens. I don’t think Cincinnati needed to win but just don’t get blown out go out and play a good solid game and they will prove they should’ve been there. Michigan needs to win they are the big 10 champs playing the second best team in the SEC. Roam, we always talk about how dang hard it is to go undefeated and this is just another example because even though I believe Georgia is better than Alabama, I thought Alabama would win last night just because it’s so hard to go undefeated look no further than Slick Nic he’s only been able to do it 2 times in his long great career. I do believe Georgia will beat ‘em next time if they get a shot which I think they will. Ole southern is on record again prediction the Dawgs will win the NC?

Think of it this way Roam ... last election season ... media kept a particular narrative alive, repeating it over and over again. We knew they were lying, but if a lie gets told enough times people start to believe it. Well, I think these non ESPN types have been exposed to this SEC Narrative for so long, they have fallen prey to it and starting preaching the company line without even realizing it. Governments have brainwashed entire populations before with a constant barrage of misinformation. Bottom line, till a 16 team playoff, it's a joke, scam, sham, or whatever else you want to call it.
With this Woke society we have now, all someone needs to do is scream diversity or SEC priviledge!!! It's not fair that more than one SEC team makes the playoff, where is your sense of diversity? This way, 1 team from every conference will make the playoffs regardless if they deserve to be there or not.
@shankalottapuss Michigan will have a chance to throw it in the CFP committee face all they need to do is win out. Cincinnati will also have a chance just to be fair to them.
Pitt won the ACC heck I forgot that game was on 😂 did y’all see the Pitt QB fake the slide then take it to the house. Rules need to change if the QB takes off he becomes a RB?

Yup, I hate the slide rule. It's a relic of a different era. If the QB runs, he's no different than anyone else.
EVERY FRICKEN YEAR SAME OLE CONSPIRACY THEORY!!
First off, in this society of today, if you believe that any person, organization or institution is going to sit idly by and let 1 entity (ESPN) dictate the outcome of a billion dollar event in their favor monetarily, you are extremely naive!!!
Why would any entity involved, again, institution, conference the NCAA or other networks sit back and allow ESPN to "supposedly" "allegedly" rape them of all this revenue???????? REALLY, come on!!!!!
I feel certain that if there was any inkling of tampering or bribery on ESPN's part, that surely a college, a conference, the NCAA or even vegas would be taking them through the court system to ensure they got their fair share.
Answer me this, ESPN has the TV contract for the playoffs until 2025. Plain and simple, they will televise the playoffs whether is it Alabama against Georgia, Michigan against Alabama or Nuter Lame (sorry CT) against Cincinnati. How do they benefit or profit from having the same ole SEC cast of characters participating or better yet 2 SEC teams?? Also, how have they manipulated the selection committee in their favor?
The current CFP committee consists of the below people/affiliations, tell me how it is SEC biased????? Note the conference/school affiliations for each member. 1 SEC, 3 BIG 10, 3 PAC 12, 1 MOUNTAIN WEST, 1 SUN BELT, 1 ACC, 2 BIG 12 and 2 INDEPENDENT/ND
- Gary Barta: Iowa AD – CFP committee chair BIG TEN
- Mitch Barnhart: Kentucky AD SEC
- Paola Boivin: Arizona State professor PAC 12
- Tom Burman: Wyoming AD MOUNTAIN WEST
- Charlie Cobb: Georgia State AD SUN BELT
- Boo Corrigan: North Carolina State AD ACC
- Rick George: Colorado AD PAC 12
- Will Shields: former Nebraska offensive lineman BIG TEN
- Gene Taylor: Kansas State AD BIG 12
- Joe Taylor: Vice President for Athletics and Community Wellness, Virginia Union University BIG 12
- John Urschel: former Penn State offensive lineman BIG TEN
- Rod West: group president Entergy Corporation WENT TO ND
- Tyrone Willingham: former head coach at Stanford, Notre Dame and Washington
Out of the 13 people on the committee the SEC has 1, repeat 1 representative the AD from Kentucky. So your telling me that the other 12 people including our very own John Urschel from PSU is selling out for the benefit of the SEC???? WTF FFS?????? WOW!!!
Answer this, how do they, ESPN benefit by having 2 SEC teams in the playoff? Given the last 10 or so years of SEC dominance, it would stand to reason that outside of SEC fans, there would be more interest/viewership=more $ for ESPN to see other teams/conferences compete in the playoff. NOT the same "SEC" teams over and over and over!! From a business perspective seems to me like that would be a revenue killer rather than generator!!!
I know if it ends up Georgia against Alabama I ain't watching!! Guaranteed if it is Meatchicken against Cincy or ND or any combination of the 3 I will be glued to the TV with my cracklin Coronas! You can't convince me that the SEC makes ESPN more money when it comes to the playoff.
Is the system flawed, definitely!! Am I in agreement the system needs to be expanded, definitely. For me personally i would like to see a 16 team playoff if possible 8 if that is the best they can do but, definitely more than the current 4 team playoff.
I think this whole ESPN conspiracy theory is just as ridiculous as the the stolen election theory which was/is a total farce! Both have people hurling baseless accusations with ZERO evidence or definitive proof to back it up!
COME ON MAN!!!
@navylion Thank you for providing logical thought to both topics. Sometimes logic is severely missing.

Yup, I hate the slide rule. It's a relic of a different era. If the QB runs, he's no different than anyone else.
If anything, change it to once the QB goes past the line of scrimmage, he is fair game!
