I’m beginning to think both of these dudes just ain’t going to get it done. This is Frost 4th year and Harbaugh’s 6th year I believe and both teams Nebraska and Michigan just ain’t all that good. These 2 dudes need to show some improvement this year or be shown the door. Personally I thought they would be better by now let’s wait and see how the season goes but for Nebraska it ain’t looking good so far.

I agree Southern. Frost was the chosen son and he is 12-20 after 3 seasons at Nebraska plus they are getting trounced by Illinois right now. Harbaugh has had 10 win seasons at Michigan, but he can’t beat Ohio State and has lost 3 of the last 4 to PSU. That isn’t going to cut it when those two teams are in your division. They have only finished higher than 3rd in the B1G East once since he got there. He’s getting paid a premium college coach’s salary also. Somebody’s not getting their money’s worth.

Good to see Nebraska go down to Illinois.  As a UCF Grad, I wanted Frost to stay at UCF and I certainly didn’t want him to go back to Nebraska.

@tae-buetel I certainly understand your point of view. UCF had momentum going with Frost. Have they entertained the idea of joining a major conference? ACC maybe? I didn’t realize how big of a school UCF is and they sit in the center of a recruiting hotbed. It seems as though they may be a sleeping giant if they can capitalize on their recruiting territory and get more exposure by joining a P5 conference.

One thing is for certain, after Frost's attitude last week and this loss to Illinois... The kid gloves the local press had given him there are completely off. The presser on Monday will be interesting

Backup transfer QB from Rutgers comes in for Illinois and they still get the win. Nebraska is in a lot of trouble.

If Nebraska does make a change do y’all think Nebraska would look at Luke Fickell? I pretty sure Michigan won’t lol

JF is 1-7 against Ohio State and 0-4 in his last 4 games.....and I believe HE is getting paid fairly well too. Wonder how long THAT streak will be aloud to go?

Maybe they pull a win out in the Shoe this year and the pressure is off for a little bit.

Go State

Just day dreaming here, how ironic it would be that in the departure of Franklin, for any number of reasons, Fickel becomes our head coach.

We’ve been very competitive against Ohio State and should’ve won a few so I don’t believe there’s any pressure as long as we’re beating Michigan and having good seasons?

I don't think JF will be held to the same standard as a Mich' coach in regards to OSU. Just not the culture of PSU admin; at least for now. I think when the money starts rolling in from a different model e.g. 2 -3 Power conferences, it could go either way. Some programs will be satisfied with making the playoffs and reaping the money, as long as they are consistently in the playoffs; others will hire and fire. PSU reminds me of the Steelers, ride the coach for as long as they don't do something egregiously illegal, amoral or unethical and post winning seasons.

We need to start winning our fair share against Ohio st or the fans will hold him accountable but I don’t think Penn St will unless we have bad seasons. As long as we best Ohio st or Michigan every year I’m good and of course I want to win both games but that’s like beating Alabama and Georgia every year something very hard to do.

Franklin?  Are people getting fired because they are not beating AL?  Maybe Auburns coach but who has been more competitive against OSU?  The play by play guys were talking up Indiana and PSU as the teams pushing OSU this year.  That alone tells you that Harbaugh is in trouble.  Didn't they just add to Harbaughs contract?

I dislike Nebraska since 94, but I found myself rooting for them yesterday, I so love Beilema...  They gave the game away.  Defense was adequate.  The offense is boring, the receivers don't  get open and I see Martinez as an average thrower at best.  I don't know how well Frost has recruited but those two positions are not helping him.  NE kicker missed way to much and that Safety was plain embarrassing.

I watched a rerun of us beating NE the other day.  Straight  extra point kickers but the one thing that i noted was how little working the zebras the players did.  And boy there was a horrible fumble call where the PSU receiver never came close to catching the ball.  We won in the final drive but I'm not sure our receiver got a foot down in that final drive.  While some reviews are questionable it is still better than some of those bad calls.

I'm not saying its iminant that Franklin would be fired, only should he depart from PSU for any reason.

Harbaugh was making 8-9 million a year, Franklin is/was making nowhere near that amount.

Obviously Harbaugh should be held to a higher standard if thet are paying him that much

I wasn't interpreting that anyone said Franklin should be fired.  I was generalizing the acceptable performance of a coach nowadays.  The standard at PSU is now win at all costs?  Can our players read, speak English?   Are they developing into young men?

Boy they gave Bowden kudos yesterday...and yet I remember an investigation where 50% of his players were special needs and had a special program at FSU that was 95% football players and 99% athletes.  Even if we give a coach credit for something besides winning it is cursory.  It is like winning the miss congeniality award.

We do need a break thru to get into the playoff, maybe an expanded playoff will help.  Without beating OSU we don't get into the playoff because we are in the B10 East.

Sadly I think the guy before Frost was doing a better job than Frost.  NE is not an easy place to recruit and the NE kids are not stayingbhome like they once did.  Not a big market with $ for their immages so it isn't getting better.  I'd like to think Frost is doing things right.  Harbaugh, maybe unfairly he is just not all that likeable and doesn't care so to some degree all he has is winning.  He is the Auburn coach that has never beaten Alabama.  We used to say the B10 was all about OSU and UM but slowly UM is becoming irrelevant?

@underlion   We can’t get in the playoffs when we do beat ‘em and win the big 10. The system we have now is a scam a fake playoffs system 😂

If recruiting is tradition based, or at least a big part of it, then Nebraska has to acknowledge the deficit they have in that respect now. When they joined the Big Ten, they basically eviscerated any historical ties to their traditional past. Zero rivals, all their history is/was with Colorado, Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Now they have no one, probably the closest thing they have is Iowa... and Iowa has more rivalry with Wisky and Minnesota than they ever would with Nebraska. In the Big 12 they were major rivals, now they are simply an outlier

Nebraska may just be a tough place to recruit to. I don’t understand what’s happening in Michigan.

I get it. Somehow Nebraska seems more remote to me. PSU is close to Pittsburgh & NYC + Philadelphia.

When Penn State joined the Big Ten, they weren't really changing the culture everything was built around. Yeah, we were an independent going into a conference but it wasn't a seismic change in what we did. We were still going to be THE premier football team of the northeast.

When Nebraska joined the Big Ten, it was a massive change in their identity. They were basically eschewing decades of history, and entering a conference where they really had little to no history. Recruiting ground completely changed, zero rivalries anymore, and basically said FU to the great plains and headed to the more urban mid-west.

I think they greatly underestimated how big a shift it really was.
