Can we all agree the Notre Dame DID NOT belong in the playoffs??  I'm not certain who their replacement should have been; but I damn sure know that the fight-less Irish should have sat this one out.  Even to a casual football observer it had to be obvious that they padded their schedule with pansies and cupcakes and then backed their way into the CFP's.  What an absolute disgrace and embarrassment they are to college football. Until they join a conference, I say "never again" in regards to their inclusion in the playoffs.  Let them take their NBC contract money and choke on it as badly as they choked on the field Saturday.

I just thought of a wonderful idea: fire Kelly and hire Stormy Daniels.  She doesn't choke on the big ones.

Couldn't agree with you more.  If you don't risk it (join a conference & win), no biscuit (NC playoff)!

I knew Oklahoma and ND would be warmup games. The Tide could’ve scored 52 but Nick called off the dawgs. ND was way in over their heads. Clemson will get beat next week. Ain’t no freshman QB going to beat the Crimson Tide baby. I thought ND would put up a better fight but they just couldn’t don’t have enough elite players.

The idea that ND is a premier college football program is predicated on a reputation that was formed 40 years ago. They haven’t won anything significant in a really long time. They stole a playoff spot from UGA or Ohio St this year.

It will be an interesting game... Clemson's QB isn't a big runner, he is a pocket passer. Usually Alabama eats those type of guys for lunch, but Clemson has a very good OL. Should be a good game, but I thin Bama wins again.

One thing is for sure, we will have our first ever modern 15-0 national champion (not couting a few from the 1800's)

I agree Roam, what Clemson likes to do is VERY hard against the Tide. I’d hate to have a freshman pocket QB up against Alabama’s defense lol. I believe Alabama will win by 21. Usually it’s duel threat QB’s the give Alabama trouble?

Why?  So Alabama has more teams to beat?

What we have is #1 vs #2.  Why not have a 32 team playoff? That would result in less of a chance of #1 vs #2 in the championship game.

I liked the bowl system that was in place before the BCS and the playoff system.  I believe the purpose of college football is to provide a mechanism for student athletes to obtain an education and enhance school spirit.

College football has become nothing more than a money making scheme where kids refuse to play in a bowl game if it is not a playoff game.  The next step is paying the kids....... and then the government can tax the snot out of them.

I agree with you unless we go to a 8 team playoff. What we have now is crap. Teams get rewarded for losing and get to sit home and watch conference championships and still make the playoffs lol. It’s a complete joke. The way ND gets in is a joke as well.

100% correct. It’s no longer about education. It’s about money and publicity for the school. Look at the guy who just got the Miami job. He accepted the position at Temple and never coached a game there. No wonder kids now bail out of the bowl games. I don’t think fans are interested in another professional football league. I’m an old school guy. Give me the good ole days!  🙁

LMAO, the "good old days" when college athletes couldn't even read, massive fraud was happening, kids being paid under the table was more widespread, and schools like SMU were given the death penalty.

Yeah, because it was all about education back then.

You mean the bowl system that screwed Penn St in 1994? The same one that allowed Nixon to screw them decades earlier also? The same bowl system that frequently failed to match the #1 and #2 teams in the bowls? How many co National Champs were there during those years? No thanks. I like the playoff. I just don’t think it’s a true playoff. Go to 8 teams. All conference winners get in plus 3 at large. First 2 rounds are home field advantage like the FCS playoffs. Make the southern boys play in State College, Ann Arbor, Columbus, etc in December or January. Make them earn it. Championship game is neutral site. There. I fixed it in 5 minutes.

Actually it was the Rose Bowl that screwed Penn State in 1994, not the Bowl Alliance. The Bowl Alliance would have allowed Penn State to play Nebraska in one of the major bowls, but because the Rose Bowl abstained from joining the Alliance we were contractually obligated to play a Pac-10 team in the Rose.

It's funny that people continue to blame anyone else but the Rose Bowl for this. Had the Rose just agreed to allow a #1 or #2 out of the game like every other major bowl did, we would have played Nebraska.

It was because it was Nebraska is why we got screwed. Ain’t nothing changed either if we are up against Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio st, ND, USC, Texas, Michigan you can forget it brother because you will always finish behind these teams as long as the fix is on is in charge of ranking meaning the scumbags pulling the strings (scam committee) lol. The whole thing is a joke

OMG, for the love of....

IT WAS THE ROSE BOWL. If the Rose Bowl had agreed with the other bowls, we would have played them. This is a fact. Enough of these damn conspiracies.

The Rose Bowl kept us from playing for the title. Period.

The college football playoff is a scam that isn't ran by but highly influenced by ESPiN. Anyone that thinks that people that have a vote in any of the polls actually sit and watch the games must be a brainwashed liberal moron. They don't watch the games, all they do is tune into the largest sports Network in the world for their information.

ESPiN tells them how they should vote and they oblige

Correct Roam.

More specifically, the Bowl Coalition consisted of five conferences (the SECBig 8SWCACC, and Big East), independent Notre Dame, and seven bowl games (the OrangeSugarCottonFiestaGatorJohn Hancock/Sun, and, for the 1992 season only, the Blockbuster bowl).

It did not include the champions of the Big Ten and Pac-10, both of whom were contractually obligated to play in the Rose Bowl. The Coalition's founders tried to get the Tournament of Roses Association to release the Big Ten and Pac-10 champions to play in a title game if one of them was ranked #1 or #2 in the Bowl Poll, but it refused to do so due to concerns about this potentially violating its television contract with ABC.

So it basically came to contractual obligation and not a scam committee conspiracy theory, at least in 1994!

I agree with the way the conferences were set up in 94 I’m saying had Ohio st or Michigan been undefeated like we’re were they would have got a share of the NC just like they did in 68, 70, and 97. Of course in 97 they made sure Michigan and Nebraska got a NC, did again in 1970 and we finished behind Ohio st 1968 and 1969 behind Texas, 1974 behind Oklahoma and behind Nebraska again in 1994. Y’all going to try and say they couldn’t have shared it not one time in all 4 of them years lol. You have to beat these teams on the field to win the NC when they don’t have to beat us or anybody else on the field they just get the NC. Find me one year when any of these teams got the shaft?

No they couldn't because that was not the way the system was set up!!!!! Read my post above. The NC was determined by bowls in the coalition and the Rose bowl was not part of it.
