See Link. Our 4th OC breakdown in the six years we've been doing this series...truly the gift that keeps giving. Anyway, Mouser's use of 3 TE and 4 TE looks (and the various things he does off of them) was easily the most interesting aspect on his tape at Iowa State. In these looks, you see the LA Rams influence Mouser got from his mentor Scheelhaase. Metrics/stats in the two graphics are from 2025...they're above-average in success rate, but not lighting the world on fire. We suspect the 2024 metrics were higher with two Day 2 NFL WRs on roster. Still a ton of 13 and 14 personnel packages in 2024 despite having difference-makers on the outside. So we don't think this TE stuff is going away.
Note: Several of these plays occurred on 4th down. In Mouser's two years as OC, Iowa State was 2nd and 16th in FBS in 4th down conversion rate.
Man I’m looking forward to seeing the team play. Hopefully we get a good spring game with some contact to see where we are. I know the QB and a few other players are off limits but with a new coaching staff and a whole lot of new players we need to see what we got. I’m feeling better about this team than last year strictly because the QB play should be much better. Well Grunk did turn it on after he got his feet wet that kid was the real deal but so is Rocco.
I know Codutti is a bit of a homer, but if he's excited about this coaching staff, I feel like we're in fairly good hands.
Don't know SPF, pretty sure the coaches have live drills during practice, so they already know who's what. So gotta wonder if Campbell has a contact spring game or not.
Sounds like, one contact practice a week, is the recommendation. But that was published a few years ago. Sun is shining, gotta get back to work or I'd look closer.
We got plenty! Half of Iowa State and all the good guys that are coming back who spanked Clemson! We get this WR thing under control and we are down to Michigan on the road and that is it!! The rest of the schedule is favorable for us. Michigan on the road is always a tuff game, but if we can get a passing game going, we should be in good shape. That is what really hurt us last year, and I don't think we will be hurting this year!
GO STATE!!!
