Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava did not attend spring practice on Friday morning, according to multiple sources, which has turned this entire ordeal with the Vols quarterback and the school into a massive frenzy around college football.
The absence from practice comes one day after it was reported by On3 that Tennessee and Iamaleava were in ongoing negotiations surrounding a new deal for the quarterback. If you remember, Nico signed an $8 million deal coming out of high school, which would pay him around $2.4 million for the upcoming season.
Here we go 😂 this got a bad ended I’m telling ya
And what happens if a school doesn’t have the money to pay? I’m assuming they’d take loans out or do they not offer the money unless they know they have it?
Whoever first said "money corrupts" really knew what they were talking about! It's really a shame that it is ruining college football. Once he's out, you can't put the genie back in the bottle, it will only get worse. So sad.
Stupid to offer an unproven kid coming out of HS that kind of money. TN is getting what they deserve.
@psujoe Missouri feels pretty good about their QB.
Pribula, by all accounts, is the widely perceived frontrunner. Transfers at quarterback are not cheap, and reports at the time of Pribula’s move from Penn State backup to Mizzou newcomer pinned his NIL valuation at about $1.5 million. Teams don’t throw around that type of money without at least some belief that the player will make an impact.
So far, Drinkwitz appears to like what he has seen.
“Beau was every bit what we expected. And, in fact, I think he was a better passer than we had anticipated,” Drinkwitz said. … “I knew Bo would have a little bit of, you know, still learning the offense, but I was impressed with how much he's already understanding it and knew it and grabbed a hold of it. Excellent leader, very dynamic with his feet. Sound, solid decision maker.
Finally, a college football program – and coach – grew a set of balls. It's been a while. Frankly, ever since Nick Saban retired, there's been a void in this area.
But Tennessee and head football coach Josh Heupel just filled it. Good for them. Bravo. And I'm a Gators fan!
This morning – less than 24 hours after starting QB Nico Iamaleava sat out Friday's practice because he wants MORE money – Heupel announced that the school was moving on. Just like that. They're done. Finished. Over it.
They called Iamaleava's bluff, and, frankly, it's the best thing that has happened to this sport in a long time.
NIL be damned! Let's get back to basics a little here.
that a baby Tennessee
Penn State is red hot on the recruiting trail, and things just got better in the 2026 class.
Four-star Nazareth Area High School quarterback Peyton Falzone announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Saturday. The signal caller ranks as the nation’s 11th-best quarterback, according to both On3 and 247Sports.
According to 247, Arch Manning was the #1 QB in the 2023 recruiting class and the top overall recruit. He's also the only QB in the top 8 who hasn't already entered the portal, and the only one who is currently on the team he first committed to. All the rest are gone.
He decided to learn more about the QB position, continue to hone his skills, and wait his turn. Interesting to see how it turns out for him...

We’re always hot this time of year under JF and then we flame out by late summer or early fall. I doubt we end up with both Troy Huhn and Falzone as west coast teams are going to come even harder at Huhn now.
@southern-psu-fan Damn straight! Beaver Stadium is worth the trip. Especially if we win!
@been-there-ii I’ll keep coming until we win brother lol
