Is this time legit? Roam, you give a reason last time it was legit. What about this time? Some Folks can’t pay their house payments and pay for food and we’re cutting school loans. Just asking because I don’t know how all this works. Maybe it’s legit

Yeah Southern,  we've been through this before.  "Some Folks can’t pay their house payments and pay for food and we’re cutting school loans".

In 2008 under the Bush presidency I worked 2 jobs. I never pointed fingers or complained. I did what I had to do to survive.

I hear this same complaint from others over the past few years.  They complain about prices, not having enough money, gas prices, among everything else. Amazingly they have money for booze,  cigarettes,  quad accessories, tattoos.  I hear it and see it first hand.

Yes, it's legit. This is for people who were on the right payment plan and have been paying into the program for a while.

Again, these people were promised loan forgiveness through a program created over 10 years ago... The government ran the program poorly, and over 97% of those who were promised forgiveness if they took public sector jobs (usually jobs that pay less) were denied.

Essentially... the Government lied to them and said they would pay the loans off if they took lower paying jobs that were needed. They were told they woukd be paid off, and Biden is making good on that promise.

The hope is Biden fixes the program so it never happens again.

To add... the big loan forgiveness Biden tried to push through was not about the program... that was just a blanked payoff and rightfully shot down by SCOTUS.

My thoughts exactly, these were people who were promised loan forgiveness for taking certain jobs, often lower paying jobs that the government wanted to fill due to need. The fact that they've been stiffed for years was sad.

@psujoe  i agree it’s about buying votes but it’s still the right thing to do if these folks were promised student loan relief.

I’m starting to lose money again and y’all all know I always blame who’s in charge if I’m losing money. When ole southern loses money is when the shit hits the fan baby💰 😂

So I guess the Government should lie and reneg on the people who entered into this program being promised loan forgiveness?

First time I've ever heard keeping a promise repackaged as "buying votes"

@roaminglion  it’s good politics by Joe Biden. Obama and Trump had the opportunity to get this done and didn’t. I’m glad it got done if the people getting the student relief was told they were going to get it but make no mistake, it’s all about votes. Politicians don’t do anything unless they think it can help them get votes. Both parties always have things up their sleeves to help them win. The other student debt was a show to make it look like Joe ain’t giving up they knew they couldn’t get the other passed and they also knew this could get through.

The people getting their loans paid off by a Government that promised it over 10 years ago don't give a damn why it happened, they just care that the Government finally did right by them.

@roaminglion absolutely! If they’ve been making payments while the loans should’ve been paid off the people should get back paid with interest as well.

If it’s justified so be it but I just heard on the news that the average pay for the people getting their loans wiped out or redused is 300k. Just don’t seem right if what I heard is correct.

No, you're conflating two things. The average pay for people getting their loans forgiven is not 300k. That's not happening, and everyone who had their loans forgiven was promised it and entered the payback program in good faith.

Where the 300k number is coming from is a University of Penn budget model that was run against Biden's new plan that was announced on April 8th. That plan hasn't even been instituted yet, and I'm not even certain if ever would be. Also, the 300k isn't the "average" pay for people in the model... the UPenn model simply showed that those making that much would see greater average loan forgiveness (roughly 25k) than the overall average (roughly 5k) for everyone.

LMAO... Anyways that's for the new program, not the old one. UPenn basically found some loopholes in the proposed Biden plan.

@roaminglion  I was actually kind of skeptical when I heard that but that’s the way the news works they knew exactly what they were doing. You can’t get the whole truth anymore you get half the truth and then you have to have the knowledge to connect the dots and most people don’t they just run with what they hear. 😂

There will be a day when we need to listen to news media and because they’re so corrupt and biased we won’t and a lot of us will die because of it. I listen but like here I ask questions and throw it out there just too see if what I heard is correct. It’s like  90% of the people believe Dr. Fauci is a fraud but I still believe you’re better off listening to him if he tells you to do something. I’m not saying he’s been 100% accurate and he’s not a little shady but odds are on your side to listen to him especially if there’s a pandemic going on. I’m an odds dude baby and I try to keep the odds on my side baby lol Rand Paul is a political dude while Dr Fauci is a expert scientist…it’s common sense.

Totally understand. The thing about Fauci is he wasnt a decision maker, he was an advisor and gave his opinions based on data he was seeing.

In science it isnt a bad thing to change your mind when new data comes in, however in Politics people will pummel you for it. If you are right 90% of the time people will hate you for the 10% you were wrong, and people who are only right 10% of the time will puff out their chests about how right they were and forget about the 90% they got wrong.

If 90% think Fauci is a fraud, I worry even more about the intelligence of the American people. I do not believe that number is even 1 tenth of that. I would believe that 90% of the folks that regularly watch fox rumors and innuendos believe that. I think Fauci did a great job trying to save lives. What he advised was not political but was science. The aforementioned fox channel was the politicizing agent.

Southern, if 90% of the people you know and hang out with believe Fauci is a fraud, you need to exchange that group of people for others.

@psugrad81  I was just trying to make a point I don’t know what the numbers are but most of the people I listen too on the radio, TV and friends believe he’s a fraud. I don’t believe he’s a fraud and I do believe he saved a bunch of live. Trust me 81, a lot of people believe he’s a fraud and believe he should be in jail. My family is a bunch of democrats and half of them don’t have a good opinion about the man and the only news they get is CNN. I’m surprised you ain’t heard of the heat this dude has taken over the last 3 years. I believe he tried his best and I believe he did a great job he just got drug into the political arena. Dudes like Rand Paul put a target on his back. I like Ran Paul on some things but he’s dead wrong about Dr Fauci. I try my best not to let anyone influence my thinking and you know why. I’m always on the lookout for deceivers brother. Lol

I have heard a lot of bs about Dr Fauci but I usually ignore stupidity. The man is at the top of his profession. His recommendations changed as the Covid problem continued. That is called scientific method. You call it the best you can with the knowledge you have. When you learn more, you change your call.

@psugrad81 I agree buddy. If another pandemic hits I’ll google Dr Fauci and get his opinion if he’s not in charge I always trusted him.
