It seems to me the following needs to be taken care of the remainder of this year and going in to next year:

Cut MC some slack; he came in with no real supply of goods in the cubboards,
He has to clean up his in game decision making,
Pick a scheme and run it, and name your #1 and 2 RBs, thats a HC call,
Play the younger guys and see what's there, if you're telling me nothing is there, that's a world of hurt,
Get the wallet out and pay:
- Portal O and D lines to fix and build depth, and depth through recruiting (that takes 2-3 years for line play),
- Portal WR, with proven HS WRs who have demonstrated at the highest level, that's a position that can start as a freshman,
- Portal QB, HS recruit if he's played at a high level consistently, and fits your scheme
MC may find he will have to change his scheme based on the players he can get in today's game
MC has to go through the stages of group build, and he is going to show whether he is a start-up, growth, or status quo coach.

Imo, 3 years pretty gives a pretty good idea of what you have as a HC, team, and AD (can't forget that pesky position)

James Peoples got the ball 8 times against NW, 8 times. If it’s 2nd and 3 run the damn ball again James Peoples needs the ball 25 to 30 times. Pound the defense and it will pay off as the game goes. Get some dang heat on the QB baby and bring some heat in the middle the shit we doing on the edge ain’t working. I just can’t get over your best RB getting 8 runs I’m sorry but our OC is in way over his head if he thinks that’s going to win games in the big 10 and NW defense against the run is miserable. Typing this I can’t get over 8 runs by your best RB against a defense that’s terrible against the run this OC should’ve been demoted last Sunday. Give James people the football 25 times and we win this game. 8 times man smh

Not only has our preseason ranking and in season ranking not made much sense to me but we continue to be favored in our games. We've been the favorite in every game so far this season and are currently favored vs USC. Not only is that baffling to me but I was listening to sports talk on my way to work this morning and they said according to current power index ratings we will win 9 games.

I'm not sure what the prognosticators are seeing that the average fan is not.

My current prediction for the whiteout , USC 46 - PSU 20. This may change throughout the week!!

My question

Would like to get everyone's opinion on this. It is my understanding that Matt Campbell brought in an entirely different philosophy when it comes to strength and conditioning for certain positions. Basically, more strength and beef up front, with less importance placed on slim athletic types.

My question would be would something like that hinder guys who had been under the previous strength and conditioning program, and lead to things getting worse before they get better as they transition to a different model.

I understand why the defensive line is bad, we really have no talent there as our two defensive tackles are big but career backups. However, I am a bit surprised at how bad our offensive line has been in run blocking. There doesn't seem to be much push at all. I think we have decent backs, but man they get hit in the backfield a lot.

Well that was a good ol' ass kicking.

Being that it's a rebuilding year, I'd get Manaske some serious playing time as well as some of the other younger guys in prep for next year and to show recruits if you can step in and play, you are playing. I think though, MC won't have that confidence and will simply finish out the season by playing the starters and hoping not to get schellacked in the remaining games. Thing is hope isn't a strategy.
